I feel like it's unfair for the victims to have to pay the bank back; most victims are first timers and with the way that scammers are able to sound super legit, it's no wonder people cash the check. It isn't even their fault half the time!
@Choalith_Ikanthe2 жыл бұрын
The problem is that the money has to come from somewhere, and if the Scammers themselves aren't caught... who's gonna pay for it? The Banks? As if the fees and interest rates weren't bad enough, coercing them into abusing the already fragile trust left between them and regular people is a terrible idea. And that's not counting the risk of people abusing that system. Someone sends money to your best friend and tells the bank they were scammed, open false claims, and cause even more damage to both the bank and the economy, you will be the one feeling it. People already do that constantly, and that's without the banks being liable for it. You can't have a system where Banks are supposed to take care of people's money, while making the Banks liable for people's mistakes. That's unjust, and unsustainable. Especially when it still ignores the actual criminals in the equation; the scammers.

Jenny reminds me of a lady I once met. I was having lunch at a restaurant in Seattle and I noticed that the lady dropped her cell phone while she was walking by the restaurant. I went outside grabbed the phone and ran towards her. She looked at me as if I was a treat, got on her car and drove away. The phone was unlocked so I redialed the last phone call. It was saved on her phone as "mom." She asked me to mail the phone to an address in Portland. I told her that I would be happy to do it but it would have to wait until tomorrow because I had a basketball game that night. My team and I were playing on the finals. She said that she could not wait until tomorrow so that she would drive back to Seattle from Portland to retrieve the cell phone that same afternoon. I gave her the address of the gym where we were playing the basketball finals. The lady showed up at the gyms with 2 cops claiming that I had stolen her cell phone. The police forced me out of the basketball game. When I explained to the cops what had happened they asked the lady why she called them. She said "I didn't feel safe meeting with a man by myself." She taught me an important lesson. No good deed goes unpunished. Now when I see a cell phone in the street (it has happened a few times) I just walk right past it.

These scammers are awful. I remember a girl I went to college with was scammer our senior year. They mailed her a $32,000 check and had her send back like $3,000. Of course it was fake so she lost the $3,000 she sent the scammers and owed the bank $32,000. It was awful! She was called she had told a friend about it too so they were also scammed. The girl kept calling her job nonstop and even told her employer what happened. She of course lost her job. Then she was so stressed she missed assignments and finals so she couldn't graduate. She was terrified and then graduation day her family came to the ceremony and she broke down and told them everything. We lost contact after I graduated and she didn't. People are awful and cruel.

@@AzguardMike tbh while I believe that one of the recipients could have been a plant, I don't think it would be Jenny. I mean, first of all why would a plant waste time reacting to that 'in-character'? If the plant had a nasty response or just stayed silent but still reported to the 'business owner' that would be a more believable course of action. Secondly, Part of my job is acting as a customer rep for a small online retailer, and I can tell you now, Jenny types in the EXACT manner that pretty much all problem customers do. There's just something within the personality of someone who would be a problem customer that also makes them type that exact way. So yeah, I'm convinced that Jenny is a real person. Not sure but I think the scammer had access to shipment ID, and hence was able to look at the same webpage Ben is looking at. So when she said "funny how I received a text from you right after you sent this email," she might not be lying; cuz the scammer was on the lookout, waiting shipment to reach Jenny, and coincided the Ben sent the email before the scammer sent the text message. You, as a viewer having both, Ben and the scammer, on the picture at once, you would wonder "but why would a scammer shoot himself in the foot and ruining his scam and preventing it from the other side." That's a legitimate enquiry, *given what you know.* But from her side, with Ben being presented suddenly besides the scammer (as a scammer and not a genuine person of interest as she thought him to be), her reaction looks very natural to me. I can't stress this enough, *given what she knows.*

Hello honorable sir. Incredibly impressed with your subject matter. My name is Joseph. I was in the 82nd Airborne, known as ,"America's Guard of Honor.". We are a bit famous for jumping out of planes and for being the pricks who insist on following the rules to the letter. Even to surpass the standards. Some even go as far as to say ,"brown nosers". I have been scammed many times myself as I tend to believe people are like minded. I'm usually wrong about that. I have tried to catch these people myself and have failed all but once. The one success was with a company hiring people to place a decal for a water bottle company on my car and it started with me getting a check and instructions. But I had a hunch so I called the popular name brand and asked if the promotion was real. I was told no. I was shocked and happy. Having said that, I wanted to say that I'm a disabled vet with time on my hands and would enjoy volunteering my labor to you should you ever need some help ABSOLUTELY FREE. I receive a full pension from the VA so I'm ok. I agree with you sir, the country is full of rats and scabs that are too lazy or stupid to work a real man's job, I've met many here on the west coast. I bring many skills and assets that may be useful to you. Otherwise. I urge you to continue your valiant crusade of justice that is sorely overdue. Keep the inspiration going!!peace.

This actually happened to me. I was a young single mom of a newborn at the time and desperate to make money. I answered what I thought to be a legit job working as a personal assistant to a lawyer. He said he was disabled and unable to run daily errands. He was articulate, and had his own website that looked legit. After attempting to “help him donate to orphanages” (I know, I’m dumb...) I was out $1,500 including the $498 he said I could keep. I gotta tell yah, getting scammed makes you feel completely helpless and humiliated. It also flagged my bank account and wouldn’t let me access my own funds for awhile. It was traumatizing.
