They always have some flimsy justification to fool themselves into thinking they aren't being horrible bastards. "The people I'm scamming have too much money anyway, what they would waste will keep me fed for weeks", or "the only people who fall for this are greedy and trying to swindle me. Just imagine if this was a real offer, I would be fleeced!" They also often don't have and can't find a real job, doing these scams can actually take a lot of time and work, there aren't all that many people willing to do this crap all day if they have alternatives. The worst are the ones who run scam offices, where they actually get a whole bunch of people to work for them trying to rip people off and of course take a good chunk of the profit

@@brentfarvors192 We’re not a bank. It costs the amount of the check plus $25 in a return fee. So if you bring in one of these checks for $1,000 and it returns, it would be $1,025, which we would never be able to collect on. Terrible for the victims, and the institution. Which is why we’re trained to spot these scams a mile away.

@@KHTimeProtecter why does it take so long for a cheque to clear in the US? Where I live, it takes half a day. If I deposit a cheque before 12pm, my bank will phone me if there's a problem with the cheque before 5pm. Yes, they make a phone call for every cheque, because usually, most cheques clear with no problem. I don't get charged. Issuer gets dinged $25 if it bounce for insufficient funds. Its a smaller country, but cheque images are sent electronically, so distance does not cause delays.
@KHTimeProtecter
@KHTimeProtecter 3 жыл бұрын
@@danielch6662 If your country is small enough that it only has a few banks, then that’s probably why the checks clear so quickly. We have a large number of different banks and credit unions, but LOTS of customers and money coming and going between these institutions. And that’s not taking account of some banks coming from different states with different banking jurisdictions. We also have to keep in mind how much the check actually is, i.e. if the check is $200 then it should clear quickly if there aren’t any problems. A check over $1,000 may take longer (On the rare occasion, I handle checks well into the mid-to-high five digit range, and even six-digit). Because of this, coupled with not-so-fast programs and internet, it takes a while to process and clear the checks. There’s a phase about banks being “too big to fail”, but that also means that they’re slow as molasses.

Bwahahahaha! I have 2 of these scam checks myself. I didn’t fall for them, of course, I actually filled out the forms and played along with the scammers to teach my wife, daughter and a friend, about the scam. I went so far as to call the bank of Hawaii on one of them, and the other was Bank of America, and spoke with both of their fraud divisions. But I love how you got them to reveal where they were from. That was gold!

I think I have too many gullible people in my family lol. My husband fell for this (thankfully I stopped him before it got too far), my mother in law fell for the government grant one from a “friend” on Facebook, my father in law once had someone take over his computer and type out curse words on it, and I knew someone a long time ago who fell for the inheritance e-mail scam 🤦🏻‍♀️. Also my husband’s grandparents had money taken when they got gas because there was a chip reader. I seriously wish they’d tell me what’s going on, I swear I’ve spoken to so many scammers at this point, if they ran it by me, or even said it out loud to themselves, they’d see it’s a scam.

@@jarateman6427 Totally agree with you when it comes to already bald men. But baldING men is who this product is for. The main bulk of the balding process takes like 5-15 years before you reach the point where you'd look better fully shaven. With minoxidil they can at least add 5-10 years to that timeline before it's time to fully shave. Although not for everyone, minoxidil does work. After all minoxidil was made to be a drug for high blood pressure but patients who took it were complaining of getting hairier around their body so chemist used that to their advantage.

(That's why this kind of thing keeps on going and going.) And even if they're "caught", since they often live outside U.S. jurisdiction, nothing can or will be done about them by law enforcement. They'll just keep going until they find a desperate, gullible sucker. So frustrating...

The moment they wrote "routine" instead of "routing" number, I knew. I work for my state's unemployment office by doing online chat and they will often misspell it that way. We've developed a few tricks to help suss out these bastards as they'll try to hide themselves with a VPN, but without even needing to be told by our supervisors, we've gotten to work listing ways they stick out. Usually they want to update the payment method to a different bank account to launder the money. As of today, all payment method changes must have a photo ID submitted. That was music to my ears! We're also mandating claimants refile a new claim every three months so as to throw them off from receiving money from an account that may have passed under the radar. We can catch it the next time they file. Screw these scammers. 😈
