coming from hiragana song and the Japanese accent really feels better by time, feels like if I close my eye I would legit thought a Japanese's speaking. I'm learning both language so this Japanese speaking+English subtitles really helps me a lot, so I could improve my Japanese listening and English grammar (which both I need to work upon 😅) thank you!

Hana, can you tell from which prefecture a Japanese is from his/her accent? And by extension, where’s your Japanese accent from?

I speak Dutch. Nowadays almost all under 60 speak english also here in the Netherlands some badly like me some almost fluent because of 3 things since the 70's it's teached at schools since i am 51 i didn't had many hours english like 1-2 hours max a week and it started at age 12 back then. Currently even children at 4-6 in kindergartnen are having english lessons. I was failing english badly foreign languages where never my best since it didn't intrested me much. But everything english here on television is subtitled , playing multiplayer games forced me to speak english on chat and internet is moslty english also. I picked the language up to my current level. It's not perfect as you can notice i make spelling errors without any doubt but i guess most english speakers can understand me. I guess i speak it around the same level as my writing.

you did good! as foreign english speaker too, I understand what are your writing. also I remember reading this somewhere: "Just remember, if anyone tries to make you feel bad for your English, they likely only speak one language." and it help me to feel confident with my English and keep learning more

@geekyrobot44794 жыл бұрын
it sounds alright!! though "what does my english sound like" would be better english has different "tenses" to tell when something takes place, which isnt a thing in japanese, i think tenses can be a bit tricky to learn even for native speakers though, so dont worry about it too much ^-^

Is there a app like this but for the opposite way around? For learning Japanese as a English speaker.
So im confused. Im 42 and I want to learn Japanese. Are textbooks a bad way of going about this if you dont have access to a tutor or a native speaker of the language you want to learn?
@MissHanake4 жыл бұрын
i think textbooks are great to start with to get a clear idea of the grammar & some vocabulary! but i think it’s important to combine that with watching TV/movies/talking to native speakers so you can sound a bit more natural :)

I think tv shows helps much for practicing listening. Japan have more interesting topic covered in their tv shows, from cooking to adventure etc. some of them also short but useful, like short tips for cleaning home, so you could watch and repeat it in short time and still got informed. as for speaking, maybe the best way just practicing it, because I think English speakers sometimes sounds weird in their accent because of reading system (I'm an Asian but not Japanese, but we mostly read what we saw so that's kinda different from english-- I also struggling with that in my English pronunciation because what need to say is different with what's written😅)
I am a Korean, so why am I recommended this video??🤣

@@geekyrobot4479 That's great idea! I'll try it right now. What channels that handle Japanese subtitles do you recommend? I know about SUSHI RAMEN riku too. He's very crazy among Japanese! I recommend watching Japanese anime with English subtitles! For instance,Dragon Ball,Slam dunk,Kuroko's basketball...!

↑'s translation into Japanese ナイスアイデアです!今すぐトライしてみます。 日本語字幕を取り扱っているチャンネルであなたは何をオススメしますか? 私もすしラーメンりくを知ってます。 彼は日本人の中でとても発想が飛び抜けています。 私は日本のアニメを英語字幕付きで見ることをオススメします。 例えば、ドラゴンボール、スラムダンク、黒子のバスケなとです。

There is nothing better than listening to English channel ( no Japanese ) on youtube
一生英語は話せない。 count the apples in your room こんな簡単そうな文も意味不明。 部屋でリンゴを数えろ 部屋のリンゴを数えろ どっちかわからん。 I put curry on the rice カレーをご飯にかける カレーをご飯にかけた どっちかわからん。 ジェスチャーなくして英語は喋れないのか?と思うわ。 ◯◯しちゃう とかいって ていうか こーゆー言い方ネイティブに聞いても「その言葉は英語にないね」とか言われるし。 英語はよくわからん。 まあ、実際外人と英語で話してるけど考えたら一切英語を理解してない自分に気づく。
