Very thoughtful, honest and accurate video. It truly is a personal thing as far as what knife fits you best. Most knives are capable of doing most tasks with the right skill set. The key comes down to personal preference and what is comfortable for the individual. I feel like I have my bases sort of covered WC wise but I haven't worked with the Master Bushman (YET) and I already know I am going to NEED a mini :) I need to get on a WC monthly budget payment program or maybe get a WC Knives reward points credit card 😂

Oh man you reeled me in again Mr. Collins! That mini handle looks exactly like a detail knife I have. I wouldn’t dare take that to the woods though. That’s for finishing up basswood carvings. That mini blade looks fantastic for out in the woods though. Can I make an honorable mention of the blackbird? That knife makes me feel very confident out in the woods. No hesitation on its ability to do most everything. Well I guess I need to start selling things for that mini😂

Grt video with useful information 👌 for yrs & yrs I have read magazines & watched videos about what a knife should be & do. Small knife vs big knife etc. It all comes down to personal preference. The grt thing about WC knives is there is one for everyone. I first started following u because of ur views & opinions on whittle talk videos. Ur larger knives & ur smaller are grt to use . Everyone no matter what their preference is can find a grt knife to use. Thank u for ur craft & God bless

IMHO here's my 2 cents. 1. Not be afraid of getting cut 2. Understanding why you need to use a knife. 3. How durable does it need to be. 4. How much blade are you comfortable using. 5. How does it fit in your hand. 6. Will you need extras such as a finger notch,jibbing,half serrated or not. 7. How much does it weigh. 8. Edge profile and ease of sharpening. 9. Type of metal. 10. Is it eye candy for you and others. Those 10 things is what I considered when helping my wife pick her 1st camp knife. As for me I'm a blade freak so any knife in my hands is functional. I'm getting the WCSK for the multiple edges that I'll definitely be using,and it's a BEAST. Now I'll watch the video.

You have more leverage with a short blade. Great blade designs. On the Last Alaskan show, Niemo skinned a caribou with a Leatherman tool. He didn't need a big hunting knife to do the job. You are on the right path.

I love the quality of your knives. You make good stuff. The only issue I ever have is that your handles are usually too small for me. Knives like your hogs tooth and wcsk are a joy to use. But knives like the nessy, wcnk etc just don’t have enough handle length. Beautiful blades nonetheless. I usually get your knives rehandled with full scales instead of contoured ones and it helps immensely as someone with XL hands.

Wish I could make knives that fit everyone but God made us all different so I have to go with what fits most folks. Appreciate your patronage and support despite that issue.

First off, I’m glad to see you have taken time off to take a minute out of the shop. Your workload has been a worry. Now the knives If the Master Woodsman had a slight continuous curve (slight belly) If the Master Craftsman had a medium saber grind. Just my thoughts. I’m just glad people are realizing the smaller blades have a very prominent place and everything does not have to be a giant Rambo survival knife. Take care of yourself.

Appreciate your concern and suggestions. The workload has been the same for the past 8 years. Amazing what you get used to. Your design suggestions has been made and tried in prototypes. I assume by Master Woodsman you mean the Master Bushman. Although every design you can imagine was tried during the R&D of the Master Woodsman as well. There is a playlist of dozens of videos on this grind concept. Some but not all prototype were shown in the introduction videos . These final design are the designs that worked best for me and the design intent. Again appreciate your concern.

@@wcknives wasn’t knocking the knives, just thatI find a continuous curve more to my liking as the saber over full flat. Just personal preference. The Nessy (Lark) is one heck of a knife as I’m sure these will be.
@wcknives

@@georgerector9252 didn’t take it as a knock. Was explaining those things were looked at and tried during the R&D of these designs. Now on a side note there are other designs coming that could be closer to those you mentioned. A new wholesaler has a design closer to the B prototype Master Bushman that does have a skinning belly. It will be released in the next few months as well as other things in works. The saber for the Master Craftsman didn’t work well for the 1/8” steel thickness and blade height. But there is a variation of the Sportsman that may look very close to that coming at some point. It was shown as a Sportsman with a woodsman full flat grind in a past video however a high saber works better for that one and it will be a monthly special at some point.
