I have an XR18 (as my main mixer), 4 PM1 beltpacks (With feeds from a HA8000), 2 P16s, 2 WPM-200 wireless IEM's. I then have 3 sennheiser G2 receivers (with antenna splitter) with 2 handhelds and 3 bodypacks. I have 2 Ultralink MS8000's for a 16 channel isolated split. This is all split between 3 cases; Mixer case, isolated split case, wireless case. Although I may look at getting a 10U or 12U wheeled rack (when I have space).

I like your system. A band should take control of their monitoring system and yours will make that happen. If you need to run PA for smaller gigs with no FOH, it will double for that as well. Adequate power distribution is overlooked by many diy bands, so your approach is solid. Good clean power will keep all the other gear lasting a lot longer.

Nice set up.. My long time all in one is: SAC(Software Audio Console) running on a 2U rack mounted Window 7 PC With RME Raydat card 4x 8200 Behringer mic pre’s 1u@ 2 Crown 2500’s for mains 2u@ 1 Carvin 4ch amp 2u 650va UPS 1u7 CD,DVD,MP3, USB, AUX player 1u 1u top space is power strip with front rack lights, front USB power, receptacle, with 8 rear receptacles. I can roll it in, have front of house in 20 minuets, from drop of the trailer door, not by choice but it’s happened. So that’s 32 in 32 out can record each channel. I have quit a few live mixes on my channel, all mixed on it.

Nice! I love the all-in-one rack benefits. You can be SO fast at setting up, and it takes up hardly any space at all. I sometimes miss my passive speakers, but I built some "Siamese" power/xlr cable runs for my RCF speakers, so it isn't so bad.
@aaronm9353 Жыл бұрын
Hey. I’ve just been checking out this SAC you speak of. It was difficult to find since it has such a generic name, but I believe I’ve found the site of its creator. How do you get a hold of the software? I couldn’t find any download links on that website. I’ve never heard of it before, but I’m rather curious to check it out.

Yoo that’s a sick setup! I have a similar one, though not as many I/O on the mixer: So in my 12U Live Rack I have the following: Front: Allen & Heath QU-SB Rackmixer 4U (18 Ins, Main L/R mix out, 3 stereo & 4 Mono mixes, enough since we only use our wedges) 3x Crown Itech 4 channel Amp 2U@ CEE16a 3phase/400V Power Distro 2U with CEE16 230V outlet for Stage Power (guitar Amps, Pedalboards, etc.) Rear: Custom XLR Patchbay for the 3 Amps, 2U Speakon Patchbay (so I can access each amp channel on 1+/1- for passive speakers) That way I have least amount of Devices in the Rack. I can do anything from a two satellite pa/two wedges acoustic gig, to a Full Band show for 300cap with 6 Wedges on Stage. Crown Amps power SRX712m & VTX F15 (both can be wedge or pa satellite) & SRX718s Subs Each Amp sits on a different Phase. L1 feeds the Stage Power & the Crown which is mostly on monitor duty. L2 feeds only the crown which handles the Subs & additional wedges. L3 feeds the Rackmixer and the Crown which handles PA Satelites. That way the system is halfway redundant/power consumption evenly spread ( 3x 230V @ 16A is not that much for a small Outdoor festival) and as soon as I have my Aufio Engineer with us, the QU-sb is just backup, as he would bring his A&H mixrack & surface console. FOH can be running in 15 minutes. Place Rack at the stage, Place Speakers, bring Power to the rack and connect 4 Speakon Cables. Dead Simple…

cool rig. I hate having excess wiring so we use an AES50 cord to send to FOH and make our unit the master and FOH the slave.

I just about to upgrade from a analogue desk to a digital desk as prefer mixing on a physical desk im not a fan of a rack mounted mixers I'm running crown amps and xta speaker management for my foh speakers and monitors,keep up the great content

I do love me some good physical control myself! Someday I'm sure I'll add a console, but for most things the wireless mobility and speed of setup is marvelous for all the gigs I currently do!

For split if your using it sometimes I would put it in a separate rack and the rack looks good
@redshedrecords Жыл бұрын
I've done that! I may explore that option again. My goal is to always have my rig as compact as possible
@igorzavalnyi5341 Жыл бұрын
@@redshedrecords I'd use the built-in mixer outputs for the in-ears and a separate digital stagebox for the FOH outputs in a separate rack. 1 ethernet cable and you're good to go when you need that. Another option is Dante, which is very common now, RME sells AVB-Dante bridges for quite cheap.
@howarddierking74098 ай бұрын
Dumb question here, but based on how you're splitting, how does gain staging work between your rack mixer and front of house? What about phantom power? Another way to ask, how do you keep your mixer and FOH from sword fighting?
@robertogarrido48768 ай бұрын
Need this answer as well, I get that it works I just don’t get how or if there’s something to do
@djabthrash6 ай бұрын
Both consoles (foh and mon) are after the copper splitter, so each console handles the gain for their own channels. Phantom power (of the splitter allows phantom power to pass through, which is not always the case iirr) can be provided by foh mixer or mon mixer, and often times it's best to choose which one (most logical is the mon mixer since it's close to the splitter)
@omarguerrero6417 Жыл бұрын
Been trying to do something like this but if I did I'm gonna need to setup all my stuff too like the game console I have and computer and dvd player just so the audio rack isn't alone and feels out of place

When you use your wireless to solo a mix, how are you doing that on the PreSonus? This is one area I'm not sure about, as I have multiple mixes, and it's hard to keep tabs on how it's all sounding because I'm also playing in the band.
@redshedrecords Жыл бұрын
Firstly, you need to be monitoring out of the headphone out on the front of the mixer. In the settings, use "CR" monitoring mode for "control room" style monitoring. Then when you solo a channel or an aux mix you will hear that source in your headphones. As the drummer and the engineer of the band, I like monitoring the main LR mix which acts as my control mix and sounds good with all faders at unity, and that way my bandmates' mixes have a good baseline to build from if I start their mixes with even faders as well. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have further questions
