I know everyone probably feels the same, but your hair looks so stunning! you always look so lovely and maybe it’s because of the topic of this video, but I feel like you look like the heroine of a fantasy romance novel, with intricately crafted daggers hidden away somewhere 💓 someone suggested Poison Study to me after I loved Summers at Castle Auburn by Sharon Shinn. I’d loved how cozy it felt, and the early 2000’s writing. idk if that sounds similar to Poison Study since I haven’t gotten around to it yet, but I thought it might be worth mentioning as a reverse-recommendation type of thing ☺️

I just finished Emily wilde’s encyclopaedia of fairies and it had such great cozy vibes and Wendell totally reminded me of howl if you’ve not read it yet think you’d enjoy it. 😊

Have you read The Bear and the Nightingale? I'd definitely recommend that trilogy. Possibly the Caraval series, definitely the Once Upon a Broken Heart series (no, you don't have to read Caraval if you don't want to). Also can't recall if you've read Belladonna by Adalyn Grace or The Midnight Bargain by CL Polk. Maybe The Conductors by Nicole Glover? My absolutely fave book of 2022 was Half a Soul (and I also enjoyed the rest of that series).

This video is awesome! I’m not a huge fan of epic fantasy, but do enjoy “cozy” fantasy. Any time you search for good fantasy books you get the same recommendations over and over. I haven’t heard of many of the books you recommended. Thanks so much!

The Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson is one I think you would like, as well as Sanderson’s newest that officially comes out next month - Tress of the Emerald Sea - a standalone that is inspired by The Princess Bride!

If you haven't yet, I highly encourage you to check out T. Kingfisher's other fantasy romance books (set in the same world as Swordheart) : Paladin's Grace, Paladin's Strength, and Paladin's Hope! ❤️ Sexy paladins/berserkers who go on adventures, get into fights, and solve mysteries, but are also total cinnamon rolls to their respective love interests! Each book features a different couple (the third one being a great M|M romance!)

I want to recommend to you The House Witch by Delemhach. I don't know if you read that already but it is super cozy, we have a crumpy male witch, romance, a cat familiar named Kraken and it is about food and the characters are adorable. Also I crylaughed at one point and I snorted so many times 🥰❤️

Top tier books on this list for sure! Strange Grace was one of my favourites when I read it last year - something similar that I feel fits with a lot of your tastes would be Small Favors by Erin A. Craig, very cosy at times but also has a creepy and isolated setting

you have to read the vanished birds by simon jiminez!! (it’s scifi, features mostly queer bipoc characters, some of the most stunning prose i’ve read, also fts multiple timelines/storylines that eventually interweave into a bigger picture)

I’ve preordered the fairyloot special edition of the OG trilogy and I’m so excited for when it finally comes out. I’ve read all Maria V Snyder’s series and loved them all except the inside out duology but I hate dystopia

I highly highly recommend the Graceling series by Kristin Cashore, and I think it has a lot of what you love in terms of both characters and the overall vibe of the world/magic :)

Another perk for those who don’t love long series - each book is technically a standalone in that each follows the perspective of a different main character, and each book is a completed story arc. But honestly the whole series is worth the read!

Okay hear me out I think you’d really like The Queens of Innis Lear by Tessa Gratton. It’s very slow and there isn’t a lot of action, but it follows three sisters as they each try to claim the throne their father left behind. It’s a retelling of King Lear but it’s much darker, has more feminist themes, and has a beautiful magic system!
