Hi Allen, At 65 I'm old school. The output from modern mirrorless cameras and lenses are too digital for my liking. I Bought the Nikon 50mm 1.2 AIs after watching your save 12,000 sterling pounds video. Thanks, just what I needed. Instead of buying the Z5 I've decided to buy the Nikon Df. Later to add the 85 1.4 AIs and the 28 2.8 AIs. I'm Nikon Old School - enjoying the art of Japanese Wabi sabi philosophy.

G'day Allen, I've been enjoying your videos lately, nothing like a working pro's insight with equipment. I encourage you to have a look at the Tamron 45 1.8, which I picked up not long ago. I'm no pro, but there's something magical about it too. It has VR which works incredibly well, a great match for the d780. Anyway keep up the good work, cheers Terry

Thank you Allen. I’ve just found your channel and although I’m not a wedding photographer, just a keen hobbyist, I really enjoy the videos I have seen so far. Your thoughtful presentation without notes is such a joy to watch. I agree about being involved in taking the shot and for that reason use an X-T3 with various Fuji lenses. Unfortunately at my ripe old age of 74 I wear specs, so manual focus is a bit frustratingly hit and miss. I do enjoy using a tripod because it slows me down, gives me time to think and hopefully take more creative shots rather than snaps. I’d really love to go full frame for that special look but don’t enjoy the added weight. I hope your 50mm f1.2 arrives in good condition. It looks and sounds a dream lens. Subbed!

I find this video and your findings as you perused your images very intriguing. It might be that mirrorless cameras breathe new life into older lenses as far as ease of focus is concerned. Ive found three things. One is the obvious - you get focus peaking and can punch in 100 % on the image while you focus. The second is the bright view in get in the EVF even in dull ambient light situations. The third one Ive found is IBIS. It's got nothing to do with attaining focus of course but it seems easier to attain manual focus on a stabilized image rather than a jerky one. If someone held a gun to your head and said choose one, would it be the 58 or the 50? Our local camera dealer has one of each. The 58 is 1600 Australian dollars (850 British pounds) and 50 is selling for 680 Australian dollars (360 British pounds). I have the Nikon Z 50mm f 1.8 and Nikon 50mm 1.4 G so I don't need another sharp 50 but rather one with character.

I have the D780 and I'm looking at the Z5 or Z6ii. I was wondering if you see the focus peaking in the view finder on the Z5?. I know you can see it on the D780 in live view. Thanks for making these videos and sharing your experience and photos.

Hi and yes - the view finder is identical to Live View so peaking shows. Regarding Z5 or Z6ii - I'd only spend the extra for a Z6ii if you need 8fps instead of 4, or need a vertical grip because they are VERY similar except for the price!

Always interesting for me as a beginner to listen to your experiences. Thanks! I have a Z 50 mm 1.8 lens. What is your opinion, is a 1.2 or a 1.4 manual focus lenses so much better?
@CreativePixelPhotos2 жыл бұрын
Hi - sorry for the slow response - only jsut seen this. The Z 50 1.8 has a very good reveiw and whilst a 1.2 or 1.4 will give a very slightly more out of focus background it'll be slight - if you have the money great - but I wouldn't brek to bank to get on. :-) Allen

@@CreativePixelPhotos Great! But if I get a chance to get my hands on a 1.2 I will not miss it. Keep safe!
