Thnx. It could be helful to have more details regarding lend mounts such as how you attached each of them to EF or other mounts

The mount depends on the taking lens you will be using. The anamorphic lenses I've mentioned, all need to go in front of the taking lens and that can be any mount.

Good stuff :) I'm a newb, what are you calling your prime lenses? "Taken lens"?
@johnburton37638 жыл бұрын
The prime lenses are "taking lenses." These are the normal lenses you will attach to your camera's lens mount. The anamorphic adapter then mounts in front of the "taking lens." Together they create an anamorphic image. Having two pieces of glass on your camera can sometimes mean you have to focus twice--once on the taking lens, and again on the adapter. This is a major downside to using an anamorphic adapter. Adapters that can minimize this are well worth the extra money.

Kk just wanted to make sure.

What are the best shooting lenses to pair with anamorphic? I took a look at the Canon fd 50mm 1.4 on your site, but after googling for a while, I'm uncertain about the mount compatibility; every info I've found, requieres to mod the lens; probably to add auto focus... That's something I don't care for, I much prefer a reasonably priced manual focus
@analogbug168 жыл бұрын
What camera are you planning to mount it to?
8 жыл бұрын
I've done a lot more research since I commented here, but I plan on using the GH4, but I'd much prefer to use a speedbooster and use a full frame lens. Or regardless; using the weidest angle possible, which everywhere I look, says 50mm [full frame], so you don't have to crop on the sides

Space! in the anamorphic aspect ratio is the essence! All that fixation about oval background bokeh and blue horizontal flares, is a product of the "Star Bores" generation, weaned on CGI and SFX. Imagine classical Cinemascope Westerns and true narrative films being fixated by those artifacts! They would have been considered as the aberrations which they are, and would have been painstakingly eliminated!

So can you use anamorphic lens by itself or do you have to use additional lens?
@cinemenico8 жыл бұрын
Yes! Especially now with the GH5 full specs announcement, having a firmware upgrade for future anamorphic 6K 4:2:2 10-bit, I might need to revisit anamorphics again! I tried once with the Kalart Victorscope 2x and Vid-Atlantic anamorphic clamp, but it was too fuzzy to deal with. Looked at the Panasonic LA-7200, but that was quite expensive, there's some great stuff on presynkt.com/tag/lomo-2x/ , think might be you who mentioned that one time. Square front anamorphics look great. Of course now we have SLR Magic making adapters or whole anamorphic lenses, I believe Veydra withdrew because they were basing it off the GH4 sensor and now with the additional 4K cropless GH5 everything's all different again. But to get into it, vintage anamorphics is the most affordable and characterful. Read on Facebook that the FM Lens will be making a return end of this month! Will keep an eye on that. That might be the most interesting thing if you're looking for something that's the least fuzz. That video shot with one on www.etro.com/it_it/showmedia/get/video/name/171377425/details/ is damn good. I appreciate you and Tito Ferradans taking anamorphic discussions to KZbin. Because it's a subject that needs a lot of expertise, trial and error and know how, and you really know your stuff.

***** :D Glad that was useful. Can't believe you keep reading these essays. :P I remember one time I promised to make comments in the future without 'read more...' showing up, but here we are again. Thanks for the heads-up, I'll just need to await their sale (and improvements??) and still have to figure out if I want a big clunky set-up like that. Like you said, great on set. Run 'n gun, one man's band, maybe not as much. Nice! Back in the GH2/early GH4 days everybody seemed to be experimenting with Sankors. ISCO definitely is somewhat of the holy grail, like a Rolls Royce and Bentley are to cars. Wish I knew more about the different kinds that are out there though, but luckily we have you to educate us! I sometimes check up on this fella on eBay 'anamorphic-scope', I've noticed he always tries and sells interesting stuff (like artemstore is to Russian glass). Looking forward to the upcoming video! :D
