My boys LOVE The Phantom Tollbooth. We first listened to it when they were 8-9 years old. We have read or listened to it probably a dozen times since then. My boys are 18 now and they still love it. We quote from it all the time.

I watched The Phantom Tollbooth animated film adaptation when I was a kid and loved it. I didn’t realize until several years ago that it was actually a book though. I read it aloud to my sons. My oldest was 9 at the time and we both had fun with it. He’s 12 now and my younger son is 8. It’s time for a reread I think!

I read The Phantom Tollbooth with my 9 and 7 year old last summer and we had a blast! We all cracked up so much and they still bring up scenes and quotes all the time. It's very silly so it works great as a read aloud.

I'm likely going to still be finishing up my March reads, in April. I'm reading Un Lun Dun, The Traded Prince and The Illustrator's Guide. I should be finished with the audio book The Book Thief, before April, so I will be able to add an audio book to the list. I'm just not sure which hold will come open first, on Libby

Blood of the Stars is definitely on my "read soon" list! For April, my red-haired lady selection is Part of Your World, which is a rom-com....and that's all I know...I'm just going to read it without knowing anything else. I haven't read a rom-com in awhile, or anything my Abby Jimenez. We shall see. I've been feeling like reading chunky books recently. My son is begging me to read The Bound and the Broken series by Ryan Cahill. He says it's the best fantasy book he's read....and it's a CHUNKER!!! Maybe it's one you'd be interested in eventually.

❤ I'm re-reading Gone with the Wind, The Inheritance (for Alcott April), another George Eliot that's 3 novellas called Scenes of a Clerical Life, Lady Audley's Secret (Victorian sensation novel), and Ruth by Elizabeth Gaskell. Maybe a few other things...we shall see.

Hi, I loved that trilogy by Elizabeth Goudge, but I’m pretty sure the first one is Pilgrim’s Inn. So look into that. 😊

Goodreads says Pilgrim's Inn is book two, I've heard good things about that one so I want to read The Bird in the Tree so I can read Pilgrim's Inn. 😊

I haven't finished a lot in March, either, so lots of carry overs. I didn't realize Ginny Moon had a red-headed main character - whole family, actually - so i may try that one. It's an adoption story, but I haven't heard anything about it, other than the bit on the back.

Oh my! I feel the same way, my family is moving in mid-July and it has been a big mind consuming, and stressful endeavor! I have also been trying to read, but it’s been harder with so much to think about and to do. Many prayers as you continue to go forward with your move.

Highly recommend reading Phantom Tollboth with your children. My husband read it to our children, and they still talk about it 10 years later! Many of them have picked ot back up to reread. It's great!

The only ones I know for sure in April are Dear Henry, Love Edith and Twice Told Tales. Our library couldn't get either of them so I purchased both and am putting them in my teen daughter's Easter basket-we both get to enjoy them😉

In direct opposition to another comment, don’t read aloud The Phantom Tollbooth 😂 I read it aloud to my kids and we all basically hated it. We thought it might have been tolerable as a solo read, the concepts were good, but we couldn’t stand the main character. Somehow it just fell flat for us 🤷‍♀️

I am dying to know what you think of The Enchanted April. I tried. I really did. But maybe it gets better. It was one of the fastest DNFs I've ever had (that wasn't caused by foul language/smutual content). But you have a couple there calling my name. Eeep!

Good Morning! I have very few plans for April, the only ones I can think of for sure are - Bridge to Terabithia -One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig I've been paying attention and every book I've read yhis year has had a redhead character or at least someone in the background -Dragonfall by L.R Lam is full of redheads -The Lost Village by Camilla Sten is my current read and it has more than one redhead

I really enjoyed All the Lost Places last year. It got 5 stars from me. We have had similar thoughts about Dykes's books, so I think you're going to like it. I plan on reading a Mrs. Pollifax (of course), Wormwood Abbey (redhead), and The Divine Proverb of Streusel next month. I have other books I hope to get to as well, like Frost Light (which was an inexpensive ebook when I bought it).

I so enjoyed The Enchanted April. It took me a bit to get into it, and the whole book seemed... slow? But it really was lovely. It felt like Rebecca to me only in the sense that as I was reading it I kept double-guessing my choice, but the end was worth it. It's been a couple of years since I last read it, but it is going on my April TBR.

What Katy Did Next sounds like Amy's story in Little Women! I loved All the Lost Places. The setting was amazing!
