I get asked fairly frequently about how to find an 'art style,' and rather than try to give advice (as I don't know anything about anything), I thought I'd share my art journey and how I found my art style in case it's helpful to anyone!
FULL DISCLAIMER: I'm still in the process of evolving my style and art, and this is truly not me saying I've 'completed' art - it's just my story so far :)
Hope you enjoy!

I dont know how closely this would relate to finding art style, but one saying that absolutely changed everything for me is "All art has an ugly phase." It absolutely blew my mind and has helped me work through the 'ugly phase' to make some truly amazing work where I might have just given up before. Also love the tiger and loved hearing your story!

Omg this is sooo true my art has the loooongest ugly phase (because I do the line work at the end) but you have to trust the process for sure 💕💕💕

After 20 years of making art i have been through a gazillion different styles! I feel like we never arrive at any style, we simply move through them. Because even though your style is the same for a long time, comparing pieces made some time apart there will be obvious changes. At the same time I think that as long as we make work we enjoy, it will have our "style" no matter what we do and how it changes. I can often easily tell what is an artists work even if they make something very different!

So true!! I think ‘style’ is totally fluid and deffo reflects where we all are on our own artistic journey 💕💕 and 100% agree with what you said about enjoying our work - that’s the most important thing! 💕💕

Just the talk I needed! We're always going to be on a journey to find our "own style" I feel like it's not a real final destination. I guess like a walk to the end of the world.

‘A walk to the end of the world’ is soooo poetic and yet so scary but I know what you mean!! 💕💕

Love your art! Thank you for your honesty about your art journey. I totally resonate with everything you said, it mirrors my own struggles and so it's nice to know I'm not alone! x

I’m glad it resonated with you 💕💕 I think a lot of times it can feel really isolating to be an artist, especially if you don’t know a lot of artists IRL - but it seems like we all have similar struggles ✨💕 thanks for watching 💕💕

great looking tiger 😀 art style just happens after A LOT of practice and studying other artists and gainging life experience. Life and the things we go through also have a part to play in our art style developing

I was just wondering as you said you recently went vegan, do you check all your art supplies to see if they are vegan too? x

It’s not something I’ve considered too much until recently - I think once things start running out I will try and replace with things I know to be vegan but it’s very hard to find reliable info on what’s in art supplies!
