Make sure you double check the W&N gouache because I got caught out a few times by the colours that aren't vegan! If you've already looked into it ignore this comment though. :)

Hey! Fab wee vlog and the otters were so cute! Good luck with the job it's so difficult managing art on the side while working full time. I try to prioritise it on my days of and do the boring adult things before or after my shift at work. I've just started learning to crotchet too and making a blanket. I'd love to make some flower granny squares now!

Loved the video, Nicky, especially using Promarkers for the life class 👍🏻and the otter, obvs ❤ As for your question a out how I fit art into my busy life... I am a home school mama, that is my full time job. Basically I never get a day off. Its wonderful though, I wouldn't have things any other way. However, I'd just graduated from art school when I found out I was pregnant, so my intended art career never really went anywhere. I still do my art and treat it as work. I post on Instagram and have a Substack newsletter. Then last year my mum passed away and I've been dealing with everything that brought with it, which was massive and is still ongoing. I don't make things easy for myself, and this year I've already crammed a 9 module course to train as an art life coach. My second course, to complement the first one, as a spiritual coach is just about to start too. My intention is to use my background in art and my interest in wellness to help people improve their lives through creativity (that's the plan anyway!).

So good to have you back! The tiger painting is gorgeous and what a lovely way to upcycle some plywood packaging- I love that :) I went through a hellish time printing my own stuff for years and wore printers down and did all the DIY fixits replacing the printer heads and cleaning out the spongey things underneath the printer carriage? I don't know what it's called. But in the end when I finally handed the work over to a pro printer, I never had to worry about it. And it kind of all cost the same when you figure out how much ink and replacement parts are, not to mention the cost of aggravation when things go awry. As for consistency on youtube, take it all at your own pace! I took like a 12-18 month break and felt so weird and rusty getting back into it but also, we all have lives and family and work. So you just gotta do what you need to! We'll be here waiting for ya ;)

Welcome back! I'm glad you made it through your work ordeal... I'm going through something similar right now and it's been really difficult to hire new people to cover the work. Not there yet, but getting closer... whew! Keeping that burnout at bay is a mighty ordeal. I'm happy you were able to step away and focus on what you needed to, and I'm even more happy you are bouncing back now to return to the things you love doing. This is such a beautiful painting, I enjoyed watching the process and hearing you "blabble on" is a delight IMO~ 😉 Looking forward to seeing the next one!

It acts just like acrylic, I use a touch of water to my brush before getting paint because it’ll help with the flow better, but it’ll have this matte finish when it dries and it’s so beautiful! Honestly I’ll be uploading a video of my latest painting where I use acrylic gouache, it’s cuts of real time so this way you can see the paint in action.

Lol I’m American and I love when we get raccoons. I just put some cat food out for them so they dont get in the trash if I’m living somewhere where there is a family of raccoons nearby. They are so fat and adorable and I love their little hands too.
