I have watch your Q5 Audi videos and they are very good reviews. I have a 2010 Q5 with the 3.2. It has 130k miles and still runs as it did when I purchased it. Over the year all I have done is normal maintenance and had the air bag recall preformed. You mentioned in one of earlier video that you felt the vehicle had a some jerky motion. I let a tire shop talk me into a putting on a 70K tire, which is not a tire brand that is not qualified by Audi. I did some research and the issue is the hardness of the high mileage tires in the winter time cause the quattro system to not be able to sense the road and it thinks there is a traction problem. That is the jerky motion. I returned the tires and put on Continental sport LX and the handling was back to perfect. Always put a brand of tire that is qualified for Audi, you can always find the same tire cheaper at you local tire store.

Yep. I’ve had my 09 Q5since 2011 and I still love it! I bought it with 35k and it now has 117k with no problems at all. It’s still fun to drive, looks great, and the 20 wheels on the 3.2 s-line make all the difference. I used to go through about a car a year,.....A4’s, FX 35, Cayanne, but once I got this one, I lost interest in the hobby/addiction. :)

That’s not so bad, got a 2012 A4 1.8T, it uses a quart every 2000 miles, with 50 000 miles on the clock. The fix was made for the 2013 B8/R8 model series.

Liked the video. We solved scratched rear bumper issue by purchasing a nice cover strip made to protect. It’s very effective, isn’t noticeable, and conforms to the curve of the bumper/deck. About $70. We also had breakage of another visor clip from almost no pressure on it... the same one we replaced about 6 months earlier so apparently the plastic in the replacement is still weak.

Thanks for your videos. I'll pick up my 2103 2.0 Q5 today. One previous owner with nearly 52,000 miles for $14,800. I hope to use it for at least 18 months then trade it in for an EV. My city has a 1 for 1 Petrol for EV replacement scheme which is available until 2024 which waives the import tax. The import tax rebate could be worth up to $37,000 depending on the value of the EV I'm buying

Hey Mike, Just curious - as I feel with the 3.0t in addition to the performance upgrade over 2.0t, how are the adaptive dampers on yours? Curious esp on bad roads how good the comfort setting dampening is. Surprised about the oil consumption. Haven’t read too much about the issue with 3.0t. The 2.0t I have has it fixed with new piston and rings so no oil burning at all. Also, is the 272hp adequate? Obviously the 3.0t is quite undertuned compared to sq5 and even stage 1... any itch for getting it faster? Thanks! Great channel
@DrivenCompanion
@DrivenCompanion 6 жыл бұрын
I don't think the adaptive dampers do that much to change the ride quality and honestly probably aren't worth the expense. As for performance, I think the 272hp is more than adequate. Of course an SQ5 would be even more fun to drive but I think you'd be hard pressed to find a situation where the 3.0T feels underpowered. Since my wife drives this car most of the time I almost wish I would have just gone with the 2.0T and saved on some fuel since she doesn't fully appreciate the performance :-)
@SzetoJohn
@SzetoJohn 6 жыл бұрын
Mike C darn! Sad to hear. Maybe have to go SQ for air suspension then? My only complaint with Q5 is on poorly maintained city roads - gets a bit jarring at times. Otherwise, quite the smooth cruiser on freeways. The new 2.0t seems to have a better range of dampening and is quite speedy! My criticism with the new 2.0ts are that they went with Quattro ultra. New S models are still full time AWD so that’s nice but also more expensive. I’ve heard the 3.0 SC does similarly to 2.0t in city bc the turbo has to work more in stop and go. My city mpg, around Boston with tons of lights, is around 14 mpg while highway can get up to 25.

I fall in love with the Q5 more and more every time I see one. I’m looking at a 2014 with 89k miles and I’m wondering if it would be a shot in the foot. I feel like the vehicle would be unreliable and just become a financial burden. Thoughts?
@DrivenCompanion
@DrivenCompanion 6 жыл бұрын
I'd just factor potential repairs into your decision when you purchase it. If you can get a really good deal on one and save some money for future repairs you might be alright. Unfortunately I don't see many Audi's out there making it to 200K and beyond.

@@DrivenCompanion I have scrapped getting an Audi. I think I'm going to hold out for at least another 4 years and buy a new Subaru.
@SzetoJohn
@SzetoJohn 6 жыл бұрын
Do it! My Audi Q5 2.0t is at 120k with no issues. Agreeing with Mike def favorite car ever driven/owned (driven quite a few cars!) and still drives like new. (A 120k Subaru I’ve driven esp with a CVT sounds a lot different at that mileage). The level of refinement is well worth it given the number of hours we spend in cars. Maintenance isn’t even that costly. Dealers often have service deals (for example oil change and filter at $50 plus they wash, detail, inspect vehicle and give you loaners which is cheaper than my previous Honda’s synthetic changes with a lot less services). Of course when things do wear and tear, it does cost a little more but a small price to pay for driving more than just an appliance. The brakes for some reason wear very slowly even though I drive in city. With 5k mile oil changes and being on top of things, I expect being able to drive it to 200k miles easily. Next vehicle if I had to would be a 3.0t Q5 or SQ5 though the new 2018+ Q5s are pretty nice too if tech is your thing
