From the perspective of someone who enjoys literature I think you would enjoy Lars von Trier. Definitely check out von Triers films Manderlay and Dogville if you have not already seen them. The sets are literally chalk outlines of a set in order to place emphasis on the characters. Also they are quite heavy on narration which complements the general storytelling and literature vibe. Both are rather depressing so be warned😂.
