I definitely think its the opportunity to get the engine out and sort everything at once. Such a fantastic car. Look forward to next video. . Get well soon Lancia

I had the same issue with my '80 Abarth 5th series: with the cap off and the engine running, I saw bubbles coming out of the radiator. I decided to rebuild the engine and took the chance to fix the chassis too (I discovered that my car was unfortunately bent after a huge accident from years ago): it took a long time, but now it's a wonderful car to drive and have fun with... No words can match its driving experience!

They seem to suffer a bit from headgasket failures? but they are pretty high performing small engines, and old- so maybe thats to be expected... Or are the cooling system maybe a bit under dimensioned? Either way, its a nice engine to work on! at least so far!... It sounds like a nice car yours! :)
@eliapozzani40194 жыл бұрын
@@SeasideGarage that video was actually taken before the engine rebuild: I’ll probably make a new one now that is running fine. But yeah, I think the issue is the cooling system which is a bit under dimensioned. It doesn’t like traffic at all, the fan starts spinning one minute after you stop, regardless of the season hahaha Still, there are the gauges that help you keeping track of the temperature. I’ll keep following this series of videos, trying to help if possible👍🏼

@@eliapozzani4019 thanks! Ill have to check the coolant system in mine... The gauge did not go past 90 and the fan did not kick in.... Sounds to good to be true really ... :)

@@SeasideGarage it’s probably Denmark helping to keep the coolant temperature low😂 see you in the next video

I’ll join the others and say Head Gasket... but I was once a motor mechanic. That emulsified oil gunk in the engine oil is a give-away, horrible stuff. Hope the strip down goes well. Les in UK
@SeasideGarage4 жыл бұрын
Hi Les! Yes... I believe so to... cylinder nr 3 got water in it... so I will do the stripdown as soon as possible to avoid rust! Im no mechanic by profession, but this one seems to be hit badly by emulsified oil/water... I think a lot got mixed in...

At a guess, head gasket but there could be another reason for it. Will be a good project to bring it back to its best just like the Renault 5 turbo.
@SeasideGarage4 жыл бұрын
Yes I think so too... Could be other stuff, but it really seems to be gasket related. But yea, its a perfect project!

Head gasket, easy to do on this car, Drive it warm and before you stop cool it down for a few miles do not park it immediately after racing around.
@JoseSantos-hg8pw4 жыл бұрын
Great concept for a video: Guess the cause of the problem haha. That seems like a blown head gasket.

Hehe This one was pretty obvious, but the concept is pretty fun! I might do it again. :)

Yea... I think you are right! ;) Yes the hose is dangerous.... we just got a new type of fuel in my country that eats old rubber hoses... pretty dangerous really...
