Jayceon is 2 years old with Down Syndrome learning how to walk 🥰
Over here we call it Up Syndrome bc ain’t nothing down about our baby
Due to him having an extra chromosome, it affects the way the he’s brain and body develops (developmental delays, intellectual disability, and an increased risk for certain medical issues)
Poor muscle tone and low strength contribute to the delays in rolling over, sitting up, crawling, and walking in children but gets less obvious as they get older. As far as poor muscle tone in walking… You may have noticed it in Jayceons FLAT feet. It just means that his ligaments are too stretchy. Notice his heel bone rotates inwards? That causes the arch to collapse.
Kids with Up Syndrome, typically walks at about 1-4 years old while the average child walks at 9-18 months. Our Tinky man is 2 yrs old, very independent & loves to be cheered on.
Whether he walked at 2 or 4, we’re going to be here to cheer our baby on. This is his world & we’re just living in it. I can’t even explain the joy that I feel as his mommy. I thank God for trusting me & @datkins828 with this beautiful being, along with the rest of our beautiful children. I am beyond blessed 🥰
Sometimes the things we can’t change, end up changing us instead. Life is beautiful ✨
