From what the girl told me, The new back to MAC program is based on reward points, meaning you bring items to recycle and you earn points, and based on how many points you have, there are several tiers that you can exchange things for according to whatever tier you qualify for. I hope that makes sense.

Sounds like their current loyallty program, where what you spend equals points you can redeem on selected products. The selection is always terrible, and they don't change it throughout the year, stuff runs out (including after you have already ordered it) and for that program the points all disappear on 31 dec, regardless of when they were earned.

Lush also has recycled black full size containers for a new face mask when you bring back 8.

I’ve never done back to MAC but I’m working on my 6th item so that I can do it before it ends so this is super helpful!

At first I was very disappointed when I heard about the Back To Mac finishing up, as I was building up another six items to B2M. I've been making an effort to go cruelty free for several years, and Mac were one of the brands I was struggling to give up, the B2M program being a main reason. However, now I'm pleased they've done this. My excuse to keep buying from them has now run it's course, and I won't be buying any more of their (quite frankly overpriced) stuff. This terminating of the B2M is all about saving the company money and the complete lack of loyalty toward their long time customers has made my decision to finish with Mac remarkably easy now.

I'm hoping they resurrect the Back to MAC program in the future, too. Maybe somebody needs to start a petition to make sure they do? In any case, I'm going to keep saving my MAC empties...just in case!

If you take them to a Mac store you can also get an eyeshadow or a lipgloss. Macy’s only gives a lipstick or lipgloss not an eyeshadow

I think the number of items you Dan return varies per store … In the past, I went to the store closest to where I live and they let me return 30 items and I received 5 free products. In November, I went to a different store, I had 24 items and they only let me return 12. Maybe some associates are stricter than others

I'm trying to use up a super old Posey cream blush and you are right, it's very pretty! Glad you could back to Mac all the products, I believe they don't accept limited edition packaging, everything else should be ok.

I returned a lipstick in the Love Me collection, which was in a pretty lipstick case, and I had absolutely no problems 🤷‍♀️
