My Backyard ft. Geoff Ballard

Some people like riding. Some love it. Some are addicted to it. And then there’s Geoff Ballard; a man whose five-decade relationship with motorcycles borders on obsession. He may be on the ripe side of 60 these days, but “GB” - as he’s known to his mates - still has more enthusiasm for motorcycles than a paddock full of moto groms. Whether it’s riding, testing, adventuring, tinkering or just talking about dirt bikes, GB’s energy is infectious. He’ll ride a bike of any brand or any vintage, so long as he’s behind bars of something with two wheels and a motor. Transmoto, in partnership with VW Amarok and Vans, joins GB as he takes us for a rip around his backyard: the NSW Central Tablelands township of Hampton, just west of the Blue Mountains.

Man, what a great video! I’m not a great rider but I do love it. I also really dig seeing “older” dudes out there still ripping! I’m 51 and I also dread the day I can’t ride anymore. Hopefully that’s a long way off. Non riding folks just don’t understand.

I've always admired Geoff. I remember when he cam we to the states and the first time I saw him at a race. It was a national harescramble on the east coast. I remember him battling my brother Ed, Mark Hyde and Fred Hoess. He always cad clean g I goggles on his koala bear he wore. He almost won Blackwater in 1987 if I remember correctly. I was a young kid and he always had time for me. What an amazing person and a true BADASS!!!!

Fast Eddy Lojak, and fast Freddy Hoess, I grew up in Stanhope NJ watching Freddy. I could learn more in an hour from Freddy than a year on my own. Geoff was incredibly fast also. These guys were the pioneers of the GNCC we know today and owe everything to these guys completing the Blackwater on a bike from the 80's!! Kaleb Russell, Josh Strang and most of today's riders don't understand just how good they have it.

When your from the blue mtns yep we Trail ride and we Road ride we adventure ride but we all love our trail riding. I always remember chatting with Geoff in Blackheath. I got addicted when watching him rap around Bilpin moto x track. When the ol Xr ‘a we’re the thing Daryl’s was cool Thumpernats was so cool. Geoff we will always ride until we can’t walk. Keep riding keep living keep being us.
