My Balisong Collection 2023!

Here is my balisong collection as it stood at the end of 2023! I really wanted to make a balisong collection video where I share a bit about each bali in my collection, but I wasn't able to get it finished in time to upload in 2023.
I think this might be the last unscripted talking while flipping video I make, as it really isn't something I am good at. I think I could make a much better video, but I really don't have the time right now unfortunately. I guess that will just have to be something to look forward to near the end of 2024!

If you're wanting to try a neutral balisong, albeit with a slippery construction, I would recommend trying out the Marcolo C116 V2. The bottle opener isn't great, and the overall construction is pretty hollow for aluminum. But, it's a respectable flipper and a nice contrast to the handle biased Nabalis Vulp. It helped me form a preference for weight balance favoring neutral overall. It also goes on sale quite frequently, so it's not a terrible pickup. Another amazing cheap pickup would be the Flytanium Zenith trainer. It's $60, made of 7075 aluminum, has a fantastic grip pattern, and even has speed channels. It's by far one of the more impressive trainers I've used. Fair warning, it uses T8 hardware and needs to be lubricated a fair bit more than other balisongs.

I'm probably going to take a break from the Amazon balisongs for a while since, as you can see from the video, I have quite a few already 😅 I did see a video on the Flytanium Zenith recently and it looks pretty unique for that price range. The t8 hardware is a disappointing choice, but it looks cool! I can say this now that my review is out, but I have a Squidtrainer V4 now and I agree, natural balance is really nice! I like being able to do tricks and not feel like some categories of tricks are not as good. Although, I don't think the Vulp has a really prominent handle bias, but I haven't flipped a ton of things either

I just bought an opus from machinewise as a reintroduction to balisong was super into them when i was a teen like almost 10 years ago but couldnt afford any of the nicer knives also back then all ti channel balisongs were all around 6-800

Have you considered buying clones such as the AS kraken/naut or the B+ kraken? They are around the Amazon price range but flip close to the real thing. Not telling you to buy clones but I think it would be a better option than the Amazon balis 😊

I would love to one day own a Kraken, but I think I'd rather just save up and buy the real thing personally. I've honestly been really thinking about getting an Orion v1.5 since it's like $10 more than the Vulp and everyone that I have seen talk about it has been saying really great things. I should totally sell my BBFireFly and buy an Orion 🤔 I definitely think I'm done with Amazon balisongs for now as I have so many and I don't think any of them will really provide an increase in the quality of the flipping experience! 😅

If you really liked the vulp, then I can only recommend the vulp pro! Yes it is double the price, but for what improvements you are getting it's amazing. You can mod it, the grip is way better with the satin finish and the G10, the blade is refined so it chaplins better and a lot of more small things. I would really recommend it if you are looking to get something on the more high end side :) But otherwise I think the Ldy Orion v1.5 would be a great step up from the vulp! 🎉

Thank you for the recommendation! I was seriously thinking about it when it was first announced. I don't really want to spend the money on a new bali right now, though I was thinking about selling my BBFireFly. I have to say though, with what everyone has been saying about the Orion v1.5, I am really thinking about getting one 🤔 I would love to be able to try out a Vulp Pro one day though!

I've noticed that the many carrot balisongs are slightly different. Plastic pins keeping it together is wild and also seems on brand for the carrotsong. Hopefully yours stays together 🤞
