It’s the cycle. SFIV was constantly complained about- Elena was busted, vortex is too strong, hard knockdowns on all throws suck, option selects are too strong, invincible reversals that can be made safe with FADC suck, especially when people mash them through your combo because you’ll probably miss a one-frame link online, etc. I could go on. SFV was the way it was as a direct response to SFIV’s most common complaints (they increased damage and made combos easier for example, made throws normal knockdowns again, etc.), then we complained about that game until the last season. It’s the primacy effect.
