I have the older version of this mower and it has worked great for me for 5+ years. I use my 18v mower for around the house and in areas of trees where my riding mowers cannot mow. I also have a few steep banks where I use this mower because it is so lightweight. This has been a great addition to my outdoor equipment and the batteries work on all my Ryobi 18v tools. Good review with realistic performance shown. Thanks.

You hit the nail on the head for me - a year of experience and would you buy it again. I also have many 18v Ryobi batteries and tools, so getting a mower that uses the same system makes a lot of sense to me. I didn’t know about 18v mowers until yesterday! I have a 40V Kobalt from Lowe’s, and I think the mower is ok but the batteries don’t last. I think I’ve had bad luck with the batteries going bad very quick, but I’m just done with trying to replace them. I’m picking up a 16” Brushless model tonight, we’ll see how it goes!

A real good review on the HP mower. I've had the 13" corded for quite a while now, (given to me) but I would love to be cordless. This mower sure looks to be the correct choice for my relatively small yard. Given that I have several One+ tools, it's a slam dunk for me. Thanks for taking the time to put together such a well organized overview of this mower. Cheers!

@@justinwhite9689 If your yard is between 0.3-0.5 acre and flat, then this with 2 batteries should do fine. Granted, I'd keep 1 or 2 batteries charged and spare in case needed. The 40v batteries offer more power and a larger mower at the same runtime. If all your tools are 18v and you don't mind swapping the battery 1 or 2 more times as you would, get this. OR if your yard is large enough, you could go with the 18v 20" self propelled mower that holds 4x 4ah batteries but runs on only 2.

@@NathanNagele I’m on the fence about one of these mowers, I would prefer the 40 v but I have several ryobi 18v tools. Current mower is a cheap, the cheapest Walmart gas mower but it starts on half a pull. I will give it to my son who just bought his first house with a big lot and pick up the 18v for myself.

How do you fold the lawnmower
@NathanNagele

There are two knobs that you have the loosen, and they allow the whole handle assembly to fold. They are a bit annoying, but it saves a lot of space.

I just got this lawnmower 2 days ago. It's mid June and around 80 degrees. My lawn hadn't been cut all year with a regular lawnmower (only had one of those old fashioned manual push blades) so the grass was about 4 to 8 inches high. With a fully charged battery, it indeed overheated and drained the battery very quick but that's because I set the height on the lowest and the grass was so high so I noticed that was putting a lot of strain on it hence draining the battery so fast. But once it's cut then it's just routine maintenance so the battery life wouldn't be as quick.

Like many people buying this small Ryobi 18v mower, I am in the Ryobi 18v One+ line of tools and have many batteries. This mower works great for small lawns. If you need many changes of batteries, then you might want to consider a larger 40v mower, or gas. I use my Ryobi 18v mower in close areas around the house that my riding mowers cannot mow. Pick the right mower for the job you need.
