@@hortensyvassel3112 PCOS is TECHNICALLY a "man hormone" but not in the way you're thinking. It's more like lifelong menopause. Women produce estrogen when an egg is released through ovulation. With pcos ovulation doesn't happen on a consistent basis, or even at all. Since estrogen isn't being made our bodies produce androgen, which is a "male" hormone. That's why the hair is courser and darker. And besides the hair there's also other issues like having insulin resistance. For me that made me have really low (30's) blood sugars.

My Dr barely cared to help me w my PCOS after my diagnosis. Gennevieve's acceptance of herself + the confidence she has gained from years of pain is AMAZING. It takes serious guts to show your authentic self to the world + she is living her truth. It doesn't mean she has to be a lazy slob. Men have to deal with facial hair it's not that big of a deal. If she doesn't want to have the beard then she can shave every day. If she wants to keep the beard then keep it trimmed and looking good. Either way it's an easy to deal with symptom.

I also have PCOS. There's not only an emotional toll on us but also medical problems that can occur like insulin resistance. For me, when I was 19, I was with an older man who would tell me he would be in love with me if I didn't have the hair. I dont have as much facial hair but I do have a bunch on my chest, breasts, stomach and back so I've always struggled with feeling like a woman and feeling sexy.. like I didnt deserve to feel that way. I never even realised how unusual my hairiness was until I put dark toner in my hair and rinsed it off, it ran down my back and covered the blond hair on it, my friend came up to me from behind and was like girl, you look like a werewolf😂 You always assume people will judge you for looking different but overwhelming majority of them are weirded out at first, but quickly warm up to you and it's not a big deal at all! I'd would get electrolysis and buy a wig or a wig topper, instead of going around with a beanie whilst the weather is hot.

She’s cute either way! Gynecological issues are no joke! I’ve got endometriosis, chronic PID, and adenomyosis. Anyone battling GYN issues, please know I know it hurts!

PCOS is not just a gynecological issue. It affects the ovaries but it also affects the whole body and many of its systems because it's a hormonal disorder.
@sciencenotstigma95342 жыл бұрын
@@kojayeoja I guess I think of it as one of the serious gynecological disorders because that’s one of the specialists you would see, just like I also see a urologist, gastroenterologist, and endocrinologist for manifestations of my issues. PCOS does involve multiple body systems, but I’m not talking about benign (if painful) ovarian cysts or BV, either. My PID is life-threatening and affects other systems, as well. Endometriosis & Adenomyosis affect everything in the abdomen, and sometimes other cavities. By definition, endometriosis involves abnormal cell growth outside of the uterus. My insides are so “glued together” that there’s no way to remove it, or my ovaries, and I have serious issues with neighboring organs. This includes chronic bladder and kidney infections because of adhesions in the bladder and urethra. Endo is also treated with birth control pills and metformin, like PCOS. The problems I have don’t involve overproduction of androgens, only hormonal issues resulting from any infertility/early menopause and side effects of medication and surgery. I didn’t realize, if it’s considered incorrect to call PCOS a gynecological disorder. But I also wouldn’t compare something to it that was non-serious, as I’ve known people who have it, and something above its effects on overall health, like obesity and diabetes risk. I’ve been hospitalized for weeks at a time, and am considering a surgery with great risks to life because the PID is a threat to my life.

@@sciencenotstigma9534 I'm sorry you're going through that, and I hope you can find some relief. This makes me realize that a lot of the conditions we women have to deal with that are only considered 'gynecological' or 'just infertility' are never just that. If there's infertility of any kind then that means there's something much bigger going on than just the uterus and ovaries. The only things I can think of that could be considered purely gynecological problems are like yeast and BV infections, maybe some STIs, since they don't affect any other area of the body (as far as I know). Society loves to downplay the pain and struggle women go through with health issues and narrows it down to "just" the uterus or "just" infertility. They all say, "idk, just take birth control and come back if/when you want to get pregnant". No one wants to take these serious medical problems, well, seriously. My gynecologists have all been dismissive and extremely unhelpful (even as women themselves) - all they say is to get on birth control, as if forcing a period is the solution to the root problem. It can be amazing and life-changing for some people but it's ultimately not the cure. I had to force my gyno to refer me to an endocrinologist, who has been a lot more helpful and has prescribed me metformin and spiro, but also can't say anything much more helpful than "take these drugs and eat healthy and exercise". But I mean, the medical community doesn't seem to know what else to do at this point, which is just sad. How can such a common disorder be so understudied? To the point where the vast majority of women had never even heard of it before they got diagnosed? It's so far beyond just cosmetic or infertility struggles. Imagine all the pain that could be avoided if society actually cared about the health and wellbeing of women.

Girl, I’m so happy to see you own it! You rock!!! Okay but honestly, I don’t think my facial hair would grow in thick enough to be a full on beard, I think I’m stuck shaving my face haha
@MilaMila202402 жыл бұрын
The condition is called Hirsutism. Caused by POS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) or Endocrine Disorder. Nothing serious. It's not deadly. But it is painstaking of removing the hair. Always do laser. It's expensive. But worth the money. And please don't be embarrassed if you got this condition. We as humans can't control our own body when it comes to health. Always try to be optimistic when things aren't aligned.

She looks beautiful with and without the beard but honestly it suits her so well, the way it frames her face and she just seems so confident with it. Also I’m pretty sure I saw her on TV a few years ago but I’m not sure. I think it was when she first started letting it grow out
