STELLA ADVICE: Growing up, my dad trained our Rhodesian Ridgeback not to come into the kitchen or dining area when we would cook. He was so huge and wanted to help out so much that wed end up tripping over him with hot pots and pans from the oven and stove. Super dangerous. so MAYBE get a crate or fence of some sort and have her "with yall" but set boundaries. And if Stella stays calm reward her with a treat so that she understands calm behavior during those times is a good thing!
@misswiss2787 жыл бұрын
yeah exactly...we do the same thing...we also have an open kitchen just like you Ashley and Ryan, and we dont even set up a fence...we just show her with raised voices and strict behaviours where she had to stay. And as Em said..it can become so dangerous. I think the biggest problem is always you dont want to be strict with puppies...cause they are puppies..but it is worth it:) and as long as it is encouraging "strictness" it is totally fine to discipline these cutiespies:)

Hi Ashley! I've been watching you this past year and I really want to say that the one thing I love about your videos is you and Ryan. I love how you two work as a team, but still maintain your own independent identities. I love how you guys add value to one another because you value one another. Instead of being fully dependent on Ryan or vice versa, you guys live to achieve your independent goals, while strengthening the love and support you have for each other by ensuring that the other person is on the right track to find their own fulfillment. A relationship like this is hard to find because people often don't realize how much hard work, effort, and selflessness need to be invested into a relationship to achieve this type of strength, stability, and love. You guys are role models without even realizing it, which (to me at least) makes your union even more genuine. I don't personally know you guys, but I love you guys and I hope 2018 brings you nothing but good vibes, happiness, and unconditional love.

When my pup starts getting crazy whilst I'm cooking I immediatly tell her a big NO and tell her to go to the other room and give her a distraction (her fave toy or a bigger treat). Or just even try to get her to the other room before cooking. Start to train her now because later it is going to get a bit harder. BTW Stella is soooo cute I can't

For the red patchy eye issue, I have the same thing. It can be caused by mascara and other various things obviously so make sure you’re changing out your mascara regularly. I also put the Aquaphor healing ointment on my eyes and around my eyes every night before bed. Not bad for yours eyes and I’ve heard it helps with crows feet. It’s basically a better version of vaseline for the skin.

From what I have learned kenneling is the best way to train dogs. You guys are her "pack" and you have to teach her that you are in charge (they automatically assert themselves as leader until you establish that you are). Always feed her after you have eaten and keep her kenneled while you cook/eat. It's not a permanent thing but just until you get her to understand that she needs to be calm. Also, don't over excite her when you let her out of the kennel because it will defeat the purpose of kenneling. And just putting her in another room doesn't teach her anything and is more of a punishment. As with all puppies. age will help as well :) best of luck! PS loving vlogmas!!

Hi Ashley! Thank you for being so open to helping those who are just starting out on youtube. I am one that falls into that category! One thing I would love for you to cover is how did you get used to being on camera in the beginning. I recorded an introduction video for my channel, and as I sat down to edit, I couldn't help but to just notice all my flaws! I ended up deleting the video because I felt like crap. I don't want to give up but at the same time I don't know what to do about it. So I would love to know your thoughts. Thanks again for all that you do!

Advice for Stella: I have a Jack Russell terrier with lots of energy, so what I started doing is send her to her place, and keep sending her there no matter what and then give her a treat at the end of cooking to reward her good behavior. Also my dog gets fed after we eat. It takes a while but now she goes to her place herself when I start cooking.

long vlogmas! YES PLEASE 😃...My dog is 7 years now, and one of the first things I thought him is to behave while waiting for food, so I give him food then when he is calm, sitting and waiting, and he always gets something while we are cooking (like cucumber or carrots or similar) and he waits patiently (and doesn't leave the kitchen until he gets some treat 🙈), I hope this helps, and sorry for my bad English. Lots of love from Germany ❤️😘

I love hearing all the sirens and honking cars in the background lol 😂. I use men’s razors too, they work so good!! And I use the Thayer’s witch hazel in lavender and I love it! As for Stella, I trained my puppy to stay in his bed while I’m cooking dinner by first pretending to be cooking something (smells and all lol) and every time he would get out of his bed i would tell him “back” by standing over him while taking small steps so he would walk back to his bed. When he listened i would give him a treat. It’s worked ever since! If Stella understands “stay” it shouldn’t be hard to keep her out of the kitchen while your cooking 😊

My boyfriend's puppy is the same exact way when it comes to food and her energy! So he trained her to stay out of the kitchen with the command "out." He basically made a imaginary boundary around the kitchen area. Every time she walked into the "area", he would say "out" and make her back up and then reward her with a treat. She learned it pretty quick and even though she's still a puppy, anytime we tell her "out," she runs out of the kitchen. Not sure if it'll help with Stella, but it definitely helped us!

Sorry this is so long!! We have a a very open concept house (living/dining/kitchen all in one space), but the way it's designed, there's only a small space to get from the kitchen to the other rooms. That way when we're cooking, we're able to have a gate and keep our pup in the living room. Obviously that might be a bit harder for you guys, since your place is a lot more open than us. When we have dinner, we'll either just put her in her crate and cover it, or give her this milk bone that totally distracts her from our food. I don't know the name but it's basically yak's milk pressed super hard to make it like a bone, and she flipping loves them. We get them at Pet Smart but if you don't have one nearby, I'm sure other stores have them/something similar. They're super cool because once the piece is too small, you can microwave it and it puffs up and hardens into a treat they can safely eat without choking! We give them to her when we need to distract her for an hour or so but don't wanna put her to bed, or when we're in the car for a long time. Nothing else matters when she sees those come out 😂

There are different ways to deal with this. Each of them are as efficient you just need to pick one and stick to it. Either you feed her before you and she will be less likely to beg. Personally when I had my yorky we would just wait to feed him until we were done. We would delay serving him depending on how excited he was. Let’s say he was getting over the top we would take more time to feed him. When I say more time I mean a few minutes (poor baby). Finally every time you feed your dog you want to put the bowl down and have them stay about a few feet away until you finally say it’s ok for them to eat. Pretty much the logic behind all of this is that by the ritual you implement (which needs to be obvious and remain the same) you tell your dog it’s his food and time to eat. Therefore he won’t respond to anything else. Patience :)

In fact, I am more in love with him now than I ever was before and we don’t need to get married to prove that to other people. We will do it when we want to. I watch Negin mirsalehi on KZbin as well and she and her bf have been together for 10 years and they’re not married. So I say to each their own! re Luna (ha ha), can't one of you take her out for a good run/walk/training session while the other one stays home making dinner...and trade-off each night? That way she's out of the way during the cooking process and will hopefully be a little tired (at least have the edge taken off) while you're eating. You can crate her with HER dinner while you guys are eating. If she eats fast and is then a nuisance, get her one of those snack/toy things that take them a long time to eat. Like...her kibble goes in a ball and she has to work/roll it around to get the food out...or I used to take a Kong the night before I needed it, dump a meal's worth of dry kibble inside, then "seal it up" with some peanut butter, then put it in the freezer. It would take Caleb (my dog) a long time the next day to lick thru the frozen peanut butter to get to the actual food (you won't want her climbing on the sofa with this cuz it can get messy!). Anyway, you can try any combination of these things WHILE you're also teaching her to go to a certain spot while you're eating...a dog bed or blanket or whatever. She's young and has a lot of energy and like a young child it can be very difficult for them to control themselves! That's why I always say A Tired Dog is a Well-Behaved Dog...so really, that tiring run/walk right before you both sit down to eat, is really the best thing at her age. I know it might be inconvenient, but that's a part of dog ownership.

For Stella and the kitchen situation I would recommend you train her to lie on the floor or in her place on the sofa and stay in place until you are done with cooking and eating. This is what we did with 4 hunting dogs we had since I was a child. First of course you need Stella to learn to stay in place and you walking away. Train this with a treat. When ever she stays in her place and does not move, compliment and give a treat. If not, take her back to the place where she needs to sit down and ask again only one time with a firm voice and pause "Sit ... Stay!" After she learns this trick you just teach her to lie down and stay in place. The dog is allowed to move only when you call her name again. To be honest we never allowed our dogs to walk up to us when we ate, also never give treat while you are eating! This will end up with a very spoiled dog that you are not in control of. I can try to link you a dog training youtube video. :) hope this helps!

Ahhh I'm so excited for you getting your eyebrows done! Even though i was one of the ones saying maybe don't do it lol. I totally get why you want to (mine are so sparse they're practically nonexistent naturally), and I'm glad you're getting just a few filled in snd in a lighter colour, i think it'll be muuuch easier to deal with any long term effects like pigment removal. Plus your natural eyebrow colour is actually really good and perfect when you have no makeup on. Darker might be a bit stark on a bare face and you are so naturally beautiful it'd be a bit shit if you felt like you *had* to do a full face every minute of the day to match really dramatic brows. Like makeup is awesome and i have no hate whatsoever if people want yo wear it 24/7 but girl i have rosacea, dermatitis and, as i said, nooo eyebrows. So i know what it feels like to feel you honestly have to wear makeup and it sucks some of the joy and creativity from it and is honestly tiring. So i don't want anyone else to feel that way lol. Apparently it's important to check your skin type when getting microbladed as there are different techniques better suited to different skin. Stephanie Lange talked about it on her youtube channel after she had a less than awesome experience with her brows and finding out later while getting them fixed that her original microblade job was wrong for her skin type. Anyway, can't wait to see your brows after they get did! V exciting! Gah longest comment ever 😂😂
