And with no injuries either which has to be a plus. Amazing video as always, I'm really glad you enjoyed the race so much, it's the most important thing of all, alongside finishing without any incidents. From what I understand, you are planning to run all the major marathons? I have to say, between your races and following Kieran Algers's journey running the Danube this summer (Manvmiles), I'm seriously thinking of running my first marathon myself in Paris next spring.
@OldManRunner2 жыл бұрын
Yes. I’m trying to get to all six of the major marathons. My guess is they will add a few more along the way. The hardest thing is getting in… I win the lottery for Chicago and Berlin and the London lottery opens in a few days. Then I am running a virtual New York marathon and if I do I get guaranteed entry to New York next year. They really do get addictive. It’s hard to explain how good you feel when it’s finished and it all sinks in….Paris in the Spring sounds fabulous!

🎊👍🏻🏃♂🏅🎉 BRAVO BARRY!!!! You cracked me up there a few times 😂 So glad you enjoyed it, by far the most important thing!!! Yeah all real champions make it look so easy, but really any time under 4h is truly an impressive achievement so BRAVO!!!! AND still be able to walk the next day!! Hope you found the James Joyce pub too and enjoyed that as well. Sorry but that's pathetic giving out the Finisher T'shirts before even starting!!! Well, I've got 3 weeks to go for my second ever marathon, second one this year, and I must say I am really quite terrified , even more than the first time, 'cause now I truly know just how much it hurts!!! 😬😩😂 But you had the right attitude there, I too just gotta let go of the idea of getting a PB and just decide to enjoy it!!! Will be curious for a little post-marathon comparison video of the 2 versions of the shoe too, one day!! 🙋🏻♀👍🏻🏅💪🏻🎊

Well I am really glad I made you laugh. Making anyone laugh is a great feeling...The James Joyce pub closed down, based on my experience they are seldom anything to do with James Joyce...oddly enough there is a street close by that is mentioned briefly in Ulysses...so i pottered about looking for that, went down the wrong parallel street, saw a bookshop, went in and bought an comic novel of Ulysses created by an Austrian born, German cartoonist...I was in and out of the shop in less than a minute, much to the surprise of the staff...When is your marathon, I will keep an eye out. Very best of luck with it...

@@OldManRunner Ohhh well nice you got yourself a JJ souvenir anyway!! Thanks Barry, it’s Oct 15! I managed 4h30 in April, which I was thrilled with, but it’s hard to not want to do better, though really just surviving is more than enough pressure !! 😁😁

@@OldManRunner I had started working on getting faster after the last marathon, but in July with the heat I was NOT enjoying running under that pressure and ended up losing sooo much motivation. Once I gave up on speed and just really focused on time on feet, it came back again and I'm sooo much happier!!! I'm sure our age too makes a difference, but I think it's true of anyone. I listened to the Doctors of Running interview Brodie Sharpe on youtube today (3 running physios) and they spoke about Kenyan marathon runners doing 9 and 10min pace on their easy days!!!!!!! 😵😵 I've definitely been too hard on myself!!!

just catching up now ( a bit late , had a good giggle at your dear Adidas post) , very well done , your planning is impeccable sir . I agree with the bins , always rubbish (also 1/2's) I like to sip my water , if I take a salt tab its when I need it (not being tied to where they have a station) , always means I have to search for a bin or it gets left on the side. Might see if I can do it next year depending on what is left of the pound by then

I find the lower I set my goals, the more often I attain them! Hello Kathy. I suppose I have been concentrating on marathons, but kind of accidentally. I have been tackling my Parkrun 5k and hope to get faster at that. There is something about the marathon though. Technically I perform worse the longer the race goes on, maybe that is the draw. I know as soon as I finish one I am itching to find another one.
