Q is not canonically nonbinary and is a boy who uses he/they pronouns the same way Dazai does- cause he doesn't see himself as a person..it had nothing to do with his gender identity

as far as i'm aware, the original japanese always uses gender-neutral language for them and there's even a couple extra gag comics where they specifically play with the idea that q is gender nonconforming. it may not be their canonical gender identity, but "nonbinary" was the closest i could get to that concept on the spot if i'm wrong abt the og language, you're welcome to correct me tho lol. calling them nonbinary and using they/them pronouns is just how i interpret that intentional ambiguity
