Congrats a brute of a buck. Cool to see you and you wife sharing this experience. If your concerned with the noise she makes when she is walking through the woods, have you considered some lite clucking or yelps to imitate turkeys moving through an area, to relax the deer. You can also teach her how to redistribute her step to her outside portion of her foot, to help reduce the sound. Great video.

Congratulations; and thank you for posting this video so we may vicariously enjoy. So Nate, we look to your videos for technical help and inspiration; and I’m seriously tapping your thoughts. That broadhead looks like a compact Grim Reaper; and I understand their great. I’ve used them myself. Just curious, considering your tuning expertise, your hunting prowess, and your capability as an archer, why you have an expandable up front. All the lore I’ve heard about Pennsylvania deer indicates you would inevitably encounter a monster deer. Now your expandable got the job done; but you had seemed quite distraught after taking that quartering to shot. In hindsight, would you have preferred carrying some different archery tackle to your stand?

Nope! No matter the head and no matter the situation, whacking a deer in the shoulder is never good. Shot ended up being perfectly placed and I had zero issues with penetration. Whitetails of PA are traditionally not that big of animals, and I've sent my fair share of broadheads through shoulder blades with ease: mechanicals and fixed blades. My preference will always be a fixed blade head. It just makes the most sense. The Mini Mag from Grim Reaper is the one head style of theirs I had never tried before and I'm nothing short of super impressed after two deer down this season with fantastic penetration and blood trails.
