Can I substitute oats with something else? Like maybe "chira" . I'm not sure if you're familiar with this ingredient but would really appreciate your feedback!

BTW, loved your video, the editing and the way you explained how to prepare the burgers, it was very relaxed (I don't really like it when people rush in their vids, only my opinion). +Sunyukta Au - I can't reply to you directly because of your google+ settings. If you are using the Chinese eggplant, the long and thin one, I recommend you soak it for about 10 - 15 minutes in salty water. But the globe eggplant or aubergine type does not need soaking, it's a lot less bitter. I'll try to think of some recipes with coconut flour. Thanks for commenting. :)

First of all, a big complimient to you! I really enjoy watching your videos and you can see that you make them with lots of love! I will definitely give these burgers a try! Is it also possible to use chickpea flour instead of chickpeas?

Thank you for your nice comment. We do enjoy making these videos and we're glad it shows. :) I don't think chickpea flour will work for these burgers as it will lack the texture of mashed chickpeas. You may use other beans like black beans, red kidney beans or white chickpeas. In the case of white chickpeas, you may need to reduce the liquid or add more oats as they tend to contain more moisture than brown chickpeas.

Hi Teenuja, nice recipe, gonna try this out tonight! I wanted to know if the bringals, once cut, have to be soaked in salty water? That's what my mom usually does. Thanks! Would be great if you could suggest a few recipes which make use of coconut flour....salty and sweet? Thanks :)

Harbouring somewhat certain kind of prejudices regarding young generation.....my only child says ...I am somewhat ''dogmatic...'') I had almost given up on life ....dejected ..while browsing seeking catharsis by watching some old movie(s) stumbled upon your channel / video. Trust me , you completely dispelled my gloom reviving my zest for life once again. Nutritionally , presentation wise etc etc in every way you are the BEST. You are so RELAXED . Hi Veganlovlie! I thought your recipe video production (and the end result) looked fantastic. I want to try this recipe soon. Thought you may like to know that the addition of soy sauce contains gluten! A good substitute may be tamari sauce or liquid aminos. Aside from that, thanks for a very promising vegan burger!

That looks so delicious, and maybe somebody has already asked, but can you tell me what BROWN chick peas are? I know the regular chickpea (or garbanzo) but have never heard of the brown version. Are they dried perhaps? Thank you.

Brown chickpeas are just another variety of chickpeas; they have a more earthy taste and they are a little bit drier with a thicker skin. You can usually find them at Indian or Asian stores.

I want to make a great veggie burger for my omnivore brother and I'm wondering if I could use black beans instead of kala chana (I could dry them a little in the oven if that's necessary)? Thank you very much for sharing this recipe, it looks amazing and I'm sure it's delicious too!

+Stella Deli Yes you can use black beans. You don't need to dry them, just add a little more oats if the mixture is too watery or use less of the fresh herbs (to reduce the water a little bit). But black beans should work fine.

Great recipe. I would fry the eggplant I think!! What else can you use instead of oats? I find it abhorrent 😊. Thank you!!

+Aida Strocovsky You don't actually taste the oats at all in this burger. It acts as a binder to absorb the moisture and hold everything together. Other than oats, you could use breadcrumbs. The amount you'll need will vary though. Add as needed to reach a consistency that you can handle and form the burgers.

+László Marosi It depends on what is more convenient for you. If freezing them before cooking, you'll have to be careful to place the burgers as flat as possible in the container, because they are still soft and can go out of shape. But they cook better and have a nicer texture when cooked from frozen. So, that's the plus side. On the other hand, cooking them first, then freezing, makes it more convenient to just reheat them before eating. Also they are easier to place in a container since the outer crust gives them a better structure to stay in shape. So, it's up to you which option works best for you. I personally prefer to cook them first up to almost cooked (like 85 percent) then freeze them. When reheated, they cook a little bit more and are ready in less time. I hope this helps. :)
