It's just for power. On the old ones you can use batteries or AC adapters. The batteries the old ones use are those big expensive ones.

jus bought one of these at a thrift store. was only $3. it said $5 on da sticker, but da guy sold it 2 me for $3. actally it was $3 and sumthin cents, but i only had pennies and he dint want 2 deal with counting out da pennies, lols. so he> *let it go* (so-2-speak) *fish-pun*, for only $3 bucks. i have a few animatronic animals, and this makes for a nice add-on 2 my collection.
