One big map consisting of surf, bhop, trikz, climb, jump, deathrun, jailbreak and a bit of official Valve maps from Counter-Strike Source and Go, Team Fortress 2, Garry's Mod and Half Life 2 (lost coast).
That was the idea.
But things didn't worked out so great.
Maps:

Honestly, this was a really entertaining watch. Even though your project 'failed,' you still learned lots of things that will make your following projects go smoother and quicker. great video.

I hope you give this another shot, cause even with the errors it's a really cool idea. I could totally wrong but I think the version of source that Momentum Mod is using allows larger maps in hammer and things of that nature, plus I bet they would accept a map like this into the game. They also have a way to record a demo so maybe that export process could be smoother with them. So you should consider getting in contact with some of them if you want to try this again.

That was insane, congrats on the hard work!!! I think the "solution" to these small replays glitches is not hard to figure out since the final idea is to have a complete run video... so if you do the run in parts and then sync it in editing, it will look seamless (use the full run as a base to sync perfectly during the "glitchs").

really cool concept. if you decide at any point to improve the demo i would recommend getting in touch with any bhop server owner, most bhop servers have seamless replays on segemented style with close to no glitches at all would like to see more of that in the future :)

Great idea and the execution is pretty good. The explanation itself is very well paced and edited. Just my two cents for the camera path checkpoint problem. You can probably fix those in the graph editor of the camera animation in blender. It's quite intuitive and should yield smooth and clean results. Earned yourself a subscriber I hope to see more creative things.

This is such an insane project holy hell, its so understandable to give up, when solving many problems at once it literally leaves no room for error. I think to avoid burnout, things just need to be done in such a way where if you make a mistake you will notice it before continuing- But you did it with alot of pain along the way, and that's even more impressive lol

The mix of house/trance track combined with the result surf&bhop animation reminded me a lot of 2008's DOD:S or Source mods frag montages. You have no idea how hard I just vibed.

@@NoVIcE_Source also, it might just be my circle of friends, but i feel like a lot of people had a similar idea for a video at some point in their life, but nobody ever tries to do it, cuz it sounds(and is) quite complicated, so seeing someone transform it into reality is really cool. My friend wanted to make pretty much this video ,but with fighting scenes in games set in different time periods, going from medieval times to future. I also had a similar idea, also with bhop, but more of a "history of movement" kind of thing, going from rocketboosting in original doom, to bhop and damage boost in quake one, to half life, to 1.6, to quake 3, to css etc, and with 2Pac - Old School in the background :)

Not a total failure, you learn a lot by this experiment. As you mentioned planning is really important, that's the first step is almost anything. As for the material problem, not a huge issue. With a bith of knowledge you can recreate or fix source materials, they are pretty simple 99% of the time. Same for the shading issue, blender cant or wont recognise that the imported assets from source are soft or hard shaded. You can simply fix this by turning everything hard shaded, there are so few BSP Brushes that use soft shading it wont matter. If you need further help just hit me up.

Why didn't you just change the keyframes when camera was spinning?
@HyperMario64

I agree I would have deleted these keyframes too, any interpolation would have been a better render than these very short jump cuts

This is a super cool idea and really well executed! Never thought you could stitch so many maps together, but the use of the SourceTV cam is such a smart solution! Got a quick question though, does anyone know the name of the song that plays during the showcase at the end? Closest I can find is ”Alektro - When I see you dancing” on soundcloud, but am unable to find this specific version/remix of the song.

I think you're putting yourself down a little, especially since you probably don't need an AI for your code. You seem to have a decent basic grasp of the code already, and just need to dedicate a little time to learning syntax.

Such a shame you had to run into so many problems and mistakes, but honestly I really love the idea, soif you ever feel like you have the energy to give it another try, and maybe have some people helping you with the coding and with the annoying bugs, then I'd love to see a 2.0 version! Still, respect for all the work you put in and for your honesty, I'm sure you're the one who's annoyed about it most so don't worry about any of us :D

Also, if you'd just have uploaded it as a normal video, I probably wouldn't have noticed most of the mistakes / cuts and bugs. But I know how you start to notice every single frame and detail after sitting at a video for the 100. replay while editing, so I get your pain. The only thing that is quite noticeable, especially after you mentioned it, is how the maps seem very random in their length and transitions. I'd love to see a more planned out version if you do choose to retry the concept some day!

my 25c - in Blender, you can probably just remove keyframes where the spinning happens instead of cutting the video Interpolation between keyframes can be changed by selecting desired keyframes (all of them in your case by pressing A) and pressing T while hovering cursor over the timeline viewport.

about the shading on the mesh, i think all you have to do is just make the edges of the brushes sharp usually done by going in edit mode > Sharp edges, not sure how to do that in python

First off, failure implies to me personally that there is no way of accomplishing the task due to things out of your hands. But this? I wouldn't at all consider it a failure. And I wouldn't consider it embarrassing either seeing you got as far as you could, would any other person be able to do this? You got to be happy with what you can accomplish, and hope that you can reach the point of fully completing your concept one day.
