Always top quality comtent. Ty, Sam! Poker is strange. If you are on the wrong side of 'good' second best hands, youre going to lose a lot and there's not much you can do. You have a seemingly unfailingly positive outlook and demeanor and mindset though! 😊

People truly underestimate how long a winning player can run bad for. All it takes is to lose a bunch of big pots @ 60/40, 70/30, 80/20 and even 90/10 odds. If you continually get your money in ahead and lose the big pots it will absolutely destroy people. I ran good for about 350 hours and then the last 200 hours I just lose every single pot as a favourite when the money goes in. This is why you NEVER EVER EVER want to rely on poker as a main source of income. Few

Variance can be a curse, I play with 1-3 recreational players that are never the same every session. I try to curb variance by only playing pairs, suited connectors, and broadway cards . My win rate went up exponentially after tightening up, paying attention to action, and learning to be capable of big folds at times.

@jvickery752 күн бұрын
yeah, they can have it every time....especially on the river....with no obvious missed draws....betting into you out of position on a double paired board and at low stakes. They just almost always have it. The very worst they have there is QQ, and you still lose.
@Alexandertygreat2 күн бұрын
This is free friendly advice from another Vancouverite, you seem to play too abc, seems like you arent ever taken advantage of opponents with capped ranges on turns or rivers. The KQcc hand for example, that turn is perfect for raise with all that equity and opponents bet size, 50% pot is never a monster and if they do have a set you can improve. Or make a huge overbet on river when checked to like 2x+ pot on river. When they check they never ever in a million years are trapping, bet big enough for them to fold or ket them know more then once they are beat ie our bluffs. GL at tables.

Tough to beat the Vegas Nits at Encore, I go there during WSOP in June every year and see the same local Nits sitting and waiting for premium hands and have no problem folding them after the flop if not improved or hand is vulnerable…the nits bring poker to a whole top of range level and if the table is full of them it’s not possible to win much bc they just fold when you make your big hands.

It's so stupid when I hear players say "they can't have it every time" then almost always call when the opponents do have it. AK is just ace high. Unless you have more money to rebuy, going all in with all the money you have left for the trip after the 4-bet is so dumb. $1100 could've gotten you 2 happy endings in Vegas

longtime pro here, you aren't running bad at 4.5 BB/hour... Your sample is literally meaningless, and you're making the classic mistake of assuming you ran bad this year and ran completely normal last year.... something in the 4-10BB range an hour over say 1500-2000 hours a year is going to be about the top of win rates depending stakes, rake structure and location.
@Nosirt2 күн бұрын
Yes. It’s crazy to expect a 20+ BB hourly. He isn’t running bad this year, he was running normal. The last year was where he was running hot.
@mattpitstick68842 күн бұрын
You must be a longtime bad pro. It’s possible to make 15+ BB per hour at 2/5 and 5/10
@livekingpoker7552 күн бұрын
I've had many years in the 8-13 range. I've also had years where i did 15bb. What's possible in one meaningless 1500-2000 hour sample of live poker isn't very relevant if you're treating this game like a true professional/as a career. Everyone lies about hourly in my experience. For most people , again I'll reiterate depending on how good the game is, rake, access to private etc. a winning player over a longer sample will likely fall in the 4-10BB/hour range. Games/ecosystems do exist where significantly higher hourly's are possible over long samples.

Maximum lost 3 buy ins and you're already distressed? I lost two in 15 minutes of getting set over set and full house over full house. You'll be in for a bumpy ride, my friend. Consider losing 15 buy ins in a row how that feels. You're nowhere close to running bad.

This wouldn't even really qualify as a downswing, just minor variance. I'm not sure how your largest downswing is that small, makes no sense. You're incredibly likable, nice guy, enjoyable content, but a real downswing can last multiple months and be quite material. Watching snippets of your latest vlogs, you're not playing well, you're being very gun shy in spots where you should be aggressive, and then overvaluing hands (e.g. 107o) when you shouldn't. Wishing you the best of luck in 2025.
