My biggest annoyance with modern children’s books | from a Children’s Book Author

Thank you for mentioning this! One of the reasons I started writing my book series was that I saw a real dearth of quality children's books that kids could relate to. People don't seem to understand that kids are smarter and more resilient than we think.

My parents always took me and my sister seriously, and I have learned so many words from them and the books they read to us. Words like "stoutness exercises" and "provitions" in Winnie the Pooh even built my interest for words and language, I think. (True, that one and other old books made me talk like a nerd and get teased later in life, and also I knew no other words for Africans than the n-word, but otherwise it definitley has made my life richer!)

Couldn’t agree more! It is so hard to find good books today. I spend forever finding modern books that I like enough to buy and bring home.
