It is amazing how far sluicing has come. It seems like every time you turn around there is a new one and that one with two different ones going at the same time seemed very effective. That was very impressive seeing the amount of gold harvested. I bet the old times would be going nuts seeing these processes. A great video even without the audio.

I'm 24 and love fishing. I'm working as an electrical engineer and don't get out as much as I'd like, but your videos have got me to start keeping a 10" gold pan and small snuffer bottle in my tackle bag and if I can't sink a hook, I can usually snipe a few good handfuls of bedrock soil from the river bed and catch a few beautiful flecks. Seeing that gold glint among the black sand on that final wash back in the pan is like nothing else. Love your videos Dan!! Stay healthy!

Great video as always Dan!!! It was awesome to have you out there. One part of the audio that was missed was Dan explaining the weeks total was actually 3 ounces more then what we weighed out. I usually high-grade the gold in the hydraulic riffles and just run the remaining concentrates through the cleanup system. Also Dan explains what my running costs are for myself and to make it short, I am around the 25% mark for fuel and maintenance.

This was a fun one Dan. One of the more innovative cleanup systems I have seen - he is dialed in to the local conditions for sure! Also interesting to see that his coarse gold cleanup sluice uses ribbed carpet - a simple solution that appears to work quite well.

At 3:19 I notice the expanded is put in for a more aggressive action (sort of 'against the grain' as it were), and have always been told (from what others heard most likely rather than through experimentation) that the expanded should lay the other way for a somewhat gentler slope to the action zone. I have done some small tests with the std Keene in both directions, and think it might be more based on the size of the chunks vs the size of the expanded rise. Thoughts?

Hi Dan, in the video, minute 8:03, there seems to be a black nugget in between or what is that ? A little saga ... A long time ago in the border water Pila (Pöhla) one has found good gold grains, which can also be floated like lead, and these are considered to be the best, likewise in the little stream Graisleinerbach black grains, which one could beat on the anvil wide. If it is black gold in the video is the legend true .....

Awesome video, and so great you had such a fun time. To see that much gold from a one-man operation is mind blowing, but shows what hard work and study can achieve for someone willing to put it all in. I'm sure he enjoys doing it. In terms of the audio problems, even something like a small portable lapel mic and recorder could be a helpful and welcome backup for situations like this. When you go to do your big operation recording work, it'll probably pay off to have that closer mic for better clarity over the noise.
