My biggest makeover yet - part 9. Satisfying path reveal.

Hello everyone, it's been a while since I've been at this property due to the owners being away on holiday so I was super excited to get back here and continue working on this project. I have invested a lot of time and energy on this yard so I am determined to hand around until it is 100% complete.
I have had a lot of new subscribers over the last week and a half so I want to say thank you to all of you who have recently started following me. I also want to thank those of you who have been with me for a while. You are all just as equally appreciated by me :)
If this is the first time you are watching this series, welcome! I did originally being this work and was charging the clients but over time their disability support funds dried up so they were no longer able to continue paying me. I advised them that as long as they were happy for me to continue recording my work and I come in 2-3 hour blocks around my schedule, I would keep working free of charge.

Those trees take a while but will grow back with a vengeance if you cut them back. They will look a bit bare for a year or so though. We've got one by our driveway and I had to trim it quite drastically because it was blocking access to the bins. For the first year it looked a bit sad but then it filled in really nicely and has grown so big it needs another haircut.

What unbelievable brickwork this yard has concealed! A real master laid that originally, for it to still be so perfect. Another very tiring session for you, Ryan, but as always you have triumphed over the dreaded wandering creepers! I think that could be the plot for a horror show- Ryan vs The Creeper! What a transformation! I do like to see green in the garden, but I also dislike seeing grass overgrown onto paving or like here, brickwork. The people who did the the brickwork did a beautiful job. This was difficult as it was hard to determine where the edge is. Btw, I get confused which garden it is just from the headline, you look after so many!

This is a wonderful series. I’m love watching these bricks exposed, thinking someone must have really hated mowing grass! Nature does reclaim anything man tries to control and this is a by good example. You are a very patient man to continue to do this work !

Probably should consider cutting the Conifer tree completely out. Blocking yet another shed and partially blocking the walkway. It's only going to get bigger, thats their nature. Your holding in there better than I would have. 😊❤❤❤

What a lovely little area you found, Ryan. I bet the owners had a fantastic garden at one point, so it's a real pity that they're no longer able to care for it. Thank goodness for you! That Wandering Jew creeper is so invasive! Thank heavens it looks like it's a very shallow rooter, so relatively easy to rake out. I'm SO glad that you're not a slash and dash guy! I imagine that doing that would just spread the plant like crazy and cause even more problems later. I hope the owners get rid of the conifers over the patio/path area, as though they're good for screening, they are thugs when it comes to spreading out. I used to like them for several reasons, but now I intensely dislike them in anything but the largest gardens. They don't look good for the longest time when they have to be trimmed, they block the light and suck up all the nutrients, so not much can grow around them, and almost certainly not under them. Plus people don't realise how flipping BIG they can get! I'm loving all of your series of, shall we say difficult gardens, but I hope you have some easier ones as well! I'm sure your back thanks you for those ones! Take care.

Thank you for your comment. It is incredibly invasive and that's exactly why i try to remove it properly. I'm glad you are enjoying my videos, rest assured that I do have a lot of "normal" sized jobs so it's not all like this 🙂

I had one next to the front door of a house I bought. What a great place for a criminal to hide! The first chance I got, I cut it down without power tools. It HAD to go. If that is the same plant we have in the US, the Arborvitae, it is a nice plant for beginning a landscape. In some parts of the US, builders put in sod and landscape plantings in the front yard when the house is completed. They love these things. They are a bright green that catches your attention and are nice when they are 2-3 feet tall. When they get to 6-8 feet, they are ugly and intrusive. As pointed out here, they can’t be trimmed back. They aren’t like plants that have been cultivated for generations as hedges that thrive after a major pruning.

I have not seen grass yet but so many pabers. Did they just fill in the back yard with pavers and that weed thing has been there a long time. How bad can two peoples backs be not to rake. Not my business but if they had money for vacation they have money to pay someone to keep up the work you have done for them. Smh.

Raking this is actually not as easy as it may look, you need to dig the rake into the soil before pulling so it would cause issues for people with bad backs.

Looking closer, you'll notice that Ryan is using several different types of rakes for different purposes. Raking creeper requires a lot of strength and muscle from the legs, arms, and back. Ryan is a real powerhouse!👍
