We had similar trajectory to you, sold my home brew camper for a smashing Bailey Senator, drove it all round Europe great experience but cost a fortune on sites 40-60euro a night! Sold it and bought a house. Then got a camper in 2021 what a price, had a few trips and it was older but very uncomfortable in the rear for passengers. Sold that for £500 more than we bought it for in autumn 2021 after 6 months ownership. Sold the land cruiser as no twin axle to tow and bought a flash medium sized air tent. Really like it. The space is bigger than the camper and nearly on par with bailey senator. Campsites still charge alot for a big pitch but its cheaper than van. Its however much easyier on fuel and the car can get into anywhere so no height restrictions and travel is easy. Drove down Scottland to south of spain last year camping every 4-5hrs drive. Really good trip. Just my 2p in case its any good to you.

Thanks again Jamie. I looked at the idea of a tent but as I said in the other comment. Lucy no so keen on that idea. Also not sure on the amount of space even in a very big car with a huge tent plus the amount of stuff the boss brings. 😂 Would end up needing two cars, need to keep it minimal really but trying telling that to someone.

@@RollingwithTheRobsons I know, I'm the one in my family that brings all the gear, once I've got SUP, snorkeling gear and maybe a fish rod I've filled the boot. We used our Rav4 for the big trip and we were packed like sardines and the roof box too. I wanted a van based people carrier and this year got an 2014 Renault Trafic crew cab. Huge cab space and huge boot to swallow all the gear without a worry. Hopefully still nearly as easy to use as a car but will make packing so much easier. This year will be the test.

Such a hard decision to make. We have been in a similar position, and just can’t afford to use it enough to make it worth while at the moment. We’ve got a week just outside of London coming up soon, so that will be make or break.

Good luck with your trip. As I say not been able to get away enough meant the end of the caravan. We will probably go back to one some day when the kids grow up.

Wow 😮 we agree though, that’s a lot of money each month and you’re always busy with the girls and their dancing. The right thing will come along eventually 👍🏻

It certainly is. With a cheaper efficent car it's over 600 quid a month saved. Well depending on how you look at it.

Trailer tent?
@RollingwithTheRobsons Жыл бұрын
Hi Sandra, Thank you for the suggestion but I might as well have a caravan if I was to have a Trailer tent. Looking into things we like and can affford not a huge cross over at times. Need to stop being so tight.

Invest the cash in something, like gold. Sit on it for a couple of years and buy a new van.

Gold has shot up over the past years but not sure it’s gone up enough for that. Unless over past 20 years.
