I’ve been stacking since I was 7 years old when my dad took me to a coin shop. While there I bought a silver round. The coin shop owner showed me a $20 American gold coin, I said, “I have $20, I can buy that!” They laughed, my dad laughed, I didn’t understand. I learned precious metal is worth more than my useless paper birthday money. 30 years later and I’ve been stacking ever since. Thousands upon thousands of ounces later.

I wish that I had started sooner. I started four years ago when I was 71!!! As I approach the "elder" classification I am glad that I started my stacking with gold. When I looked at the gold/silver ratio, I started my silver stacking. Sell my gold and buy silver??? I'm too old for that. The gold is "sold" and silver is too volatile. I am at heart a collector. Stamps until thirty years ago when I discovered that forgeries could easily enter the stamp collecting community. ASEs are less likely to be forged than the gold eagle. The gold I have is almost all pre-33 and purchased through a reputable dealer. I can only suggest that you make stacking a habit, NOT A PASSION!!! You can work yourself too much watching the price quotes. Just cool it. Relax and enjoy the ride.

In early 2017, if I recall correctly, I started searching penny rolls. That was fun, but I grew out of that and became interested in silver probably mid 2017. I learned a lot from KZbin so that when I went to our one LCS and to our bi-annual coin shows, I was able to pick up great things for little money. I've been buying with great care since mid March 2020. One thing I liked to buy in 2018&19 was sets of 2012 AtB silver proof quarters, but I'm glad I didn't buy them in 2012 (it took me 5 years to become interested in silver). Back in 2012, silver was apx $25-$35/oz, so the AtB sets were probably costly. Pre March 2020 I was getting them for about $26/each (plus $3.95 postage, though if I bought several sets, the postage charge covered them, too). Now the same eBay vendor has them for $39/each (plus postage). So as Silver Dragons points out, timing can be everything... but as Lynette Zang likes to say, silver and gold are way undervalued, so don't stop shopping around!

Been in business for myself since leaving school nearly fifty years ago. I have never had a paid job. My advice: Number one: Any business that cannot manage the interest payments upon the credit neccessary for it's survival is not worth continuing with. Number two: Cash can be used opportunistically to create fast profit. Precious metals cannot ..... unless the target opportunity is willing to accept it as payment ...... and that would be unusual.

Diversification was def one of my top 5 wrong doings when I first started collecting/stacking.. I had got me like only ten 1oz coins and a couple 1/2oz and that was literally all it took and I was hooked to silver lol within like a week after getting that first purchase I went right back and got me around 20 more ounces.. and I originally had only planned on stacking didn't really plan on becoming a collector but within no time I was 110% hook on all coins lol . Silver was my main thing I was buying but was here and there buying some non-bullion just straight up collectors coins.. like I had truly fallen in love with the beauty and history of the coins and I am now a hardcore collector and about 75% of what I buy goes towards collecting and paying some of these insane premiums lol smh and about 25% going towards stacking.. but I didn't buy my first gold coins/bullion until I had gotten to around 200 ounces of silver.. so now that I feel very comfortable with the amount of silver I have I've been buying around a few grams to 1/2 ounce of gold for every 30ish to 40ish ounces of silver I buy.. but I had already had a decent bit of jewelry gold and mind you my knowledge on this stuff at the time was horrible lol so I figured I was good with the jewelry gold that I had found over the years at yard sale , estate sales and other random finds and places.. but then I realized " oohhh okay.. this really isn't as good as .999 bullion gold " lol I mean it is but it isn't , like it's nice to have and can be and is a good investment but it's not investment grade. Sorry for the long comment but I could talk coins and or bullion all day lol great vid man.. I watch your videos all the time but have only left a comment maybe once or twice so just wanted to say thanks for all the vids and info bro.. keep it up

Great common sense advice. I personally have been buying government issued Bullion. What I don't understand with the junk silver is, it's not pure silver. So for someone to get the silver content out of junk silver, would it not be a difficult process? I'm with you on everything else, but buying old quarters and dimes seems odd to me. I don't see them being worth much if the dollar became worthless, as most are just going to see them as a regular quarter, and to get to the silver content inside requires a process that most cannot do, unless I'm mistaken.

I started in 2013. In 2001 I was wondering what do do with extra cash. I wish I would have saw the value in silver stacking back then. I went with going to a stock broker. I lost $1000 on that deal.

How do you guys view the 1oz maple leaf? I know they used to be bad with milk spotting. Is that still an issue in your experiences? I just got into PM..
@firstnameangel68413 жыл бұрын
I heard the cleared up the issue with the newer years. One of my favorite coins. Its 4 nines fine instead of 3 and my local coin shop sells them at generic pricing.

My mom collected silver. I have it now. I would like to trade some for gold, just don’t know who to trust!! It’s hard to organize it.

I wouldn’t trade it. Silver has more uses. it’s a monetary metal as well as an industrial metal. And there’s way less of it on earth than there is gold. Listen to Bix Weir or Andy Schectman on the subject. Hang onto your silver! Gold is completely overrated.

Honest question from a stacker that has been watching your videos since I've started about a year ago now, I know you say eagles should be a cornerstone within my stack, however I like eagles the least compared to libertads, maple, roos, and turtles. Am I making a stacking mistake living in america?

Hello there big fan I hope you can reply, I wanna buy 20 oz of silver and I wanna buy a 10 ounce coin and an 10 ounce bar, do you recommend?
@809tactsolutions54 жыл бұрын
10 oz bar for sure, personally I’m not a fan of any coins over 1oz. I’d do the $$ value of that 10oz coin but buy constitutional silver instead.
@Dopetronic4 жыл бұрын
Some schools of thought might say that a 10 ounce coin negates most of the benefits inherent in coins and might recommend either a second bar or 10 1 ounce coins. But then again a 10 ounce coin does allow for enhanced appreciation of detail on intricate designs. Have you got a particular 10 ounce coin and bar in mind?

How about sovereign coin.. Canadian, British and or Australian bullion coins.. I thought you also suggested those.? If you didn't I'm kinda screwed.. 🙄🙄🙄
