Welcome back to another vlog.
This week I thought I would discuss my bike packing set up which I intend to use more in 2024.
I have dabbled over the last two years but I have found the kit I bought was not up to scratch.
By no means am I a bike packing expert, and I have just shared my open and honest opinion about the Riverside kit purchased from Decathlon.
I have also started using some of my new DJI kit so again its not brilliant but I am learning, one thing is not attatch the mic so close to my mouth as you can hear my sniffling and breathing so I apologise in advance.
I would love for you to share your thoughts and I look forward to hearing your feedback.
Enjoy.

. I clicked on because of the thumbnail. 😂 ...stayed for the brilliant setup. 😁👍 P.S. I've actually seen people go overboard with the amount of panniers. It fun watching the crash

Thank you, I have made those mistakes of taking way too much, I'm talking 3 days of way too much. I now take the bare minimum.

Looking forward to your experience with the Yorkshire coast route. Although you might not find this video too in depth, I’m really glad I stumbled upon it. Videos about practical experience with Riverside gear are scarce compared to the bigger brands. And as I am interested in getting this kit, you helped point out some things I was unsure of. Like the stability of the saddle pack. Cheers from a 2nd generation Geordie in the Netherlands.

I'm glad you found it useful, I was using stuff from lifeline and the quality is no where good or as well thought out.

Nice set up…i’m sure as time goes on you’ll change things out….i would only recommend a larger rear cassette, stick a 50t on there using a derailleur extender….also the bottle mount on the underside of the downtube can be moved further away from the front wheel using something like a wolf tooth cage mount …..but yeah easier gearing versus harder especially when loaded up 🙂👍🏻

Where will you store food? These bags look remarkable. I’ve a desire to look them over after this video.

Hello I will be storing them in the frame bag and grab stuff like gels and sncks either in top tube bag or handle bar snack bag.

I think so, and it's very stable on rough terrain also.

well worth swopping that rear cassette to the deore M8000 XT - 11-40. WIll give you alot more options when loaded up on big hills. I also run the 810 groupset granted with a 48-31 on the front but yea the 11-40 on the back is a solid option.

Thanks for sharing! How do you go about finding decent routes?

Hello, I personally have multiple ways. Komoot is my most used method, closely followed by Ride with GPS. Next I see what organised bikepacking rides there are and then either take part or find the gps route afterwards. Next is word of mouth, fortunately a friend does this a lot. Lastly, other youtubers, I personally like keep Smilling Adventures.

Nice setup and I like the brand. Not a fan of hydration backpack (from my days as a jogger and when I first started cycling) nor the bivvy tent (reminds me of a coffin IMO.)

I agree on backpack for running, much prefer soft flasks on the chest style vests. On a bike it's a lot better and I woukd rather carry it and not need it, than desperately need it.

@@coach_craig_chronicles thank you. I eventually tracked it down to Decathlon. It looks like good stuff. Although I try to avoid buying or heading to Decathlon as a first stop in my search
