May Allah grant you recovery, peace and a strong bond with your baby Ameen. Please speak to GP to speak to midwives about your birth experience when you are ready, it helps to give closure and understand what happened. Speak to GP if you suspect depression, it is really common. I was very traumatised after my first birth and never got over it as I didn't seek help I think I struggled unnecessary. May Allah help and heal all mums that are struggling Ameen

I had a similar but different birth to you. My waters broke 3 weeks early and I went into labour. I was in the operating room, they gave me one last chance to push with forceps otherwise it would be a c section. Baby came out with forceps but ended up in NICU. I was in hospital for 4 nights after too. I remember feeling violated by the birth. I was paralysed and I had random men dragging my naked body from one bed to the next. The complete lack of control was traumatising. I also felt so guilty that I didn’t give birth myself without forceps, without pain killers. I thought I had failed as a Mum and I was a weaker woman than the next. Then baby wouldn’t latch, and to get him out of NICU his glucose had to go up so I agreed to bottle feed him. After he got used to the bottle he never latched. I remember being so ashamed that I formula fed. I would feel embarrassed preparing the milk in front of people, feel like I had to explain why I failed at breast feeding. Now my baby is 11 months and when I look back all I can see is how crazy I was. We women go through hell to get our babies out and safe, vaginally, with forceps or a c section. It makes no difference. I’m pregnant with my second baby now and I’m actually opting to formula feed as I realised it went so well with my first son, and gave me independence and my body back to heal after such a traumatic experience. Please know it does get better and easier. You will feel at peace with your birth story and how you are keeping your daughter alive through giving formula. You are doing an insane job. Baby Amelia will sleep through the night before you know it, feeds will become more regular and predictable and you’ll begin to feel like yourself again. Sending so much love ❤️ allahummabarik

I had a similar experience to you a few months ago Amina. Believe it or not, I found breastfeeding more painful than the labour and emergency c section. I tried to breastfeed for 7 weeks but couldn’t do any more than that due to the pain. I ended up expressing as I wanted baby to still obtain benefits of it, and combo fed. Please don’t think it’s too late to breastfeed. Milk takes a while to come in, especially after a c section. If you still want to, latch your baby as often as possible and it will stimulate your milk flow. People definitely don’t talk enough about how awful labour, breastfeeding and the 4th trimester is. It’s glamourised way too much and is just the hardest thing ever

SubhanAllah I just wrote a similar comment and now I'm seeing yours. I feel like we are not told that actually if you keep latching milk can fully come in even weeks after birth. If we didnt know that we would easily give up if that makes sense. Thanks for your comment.

This was literally me in 2018... baby girl was in fetal distress. 7 doctors running in... sign... get changed... husband in scrubs... theatre... epidural... baby out... then all the pain exhaustion hits. I showered alone... made to walk alone... wasn't allowed anyone to stay with me overnight. It was horrible.

Please don't feel bad about not being able to breastfeed, bottle feeding is great too. I know how it feels because I tried to breastfeed both of my 2 children but because I lost so much blood during both births my milk just never came in properly and I ended up giving up because it just wasn't happening for me,I still felt guilty even years after and kept thinking what if I would have tried more, but these things happen and however we feed our babies it's fine and they are healthy that's all that matters. I am pregnant with my third and last baby now and I will try to breastfeed again but I know from my past 2 experiences it's unlikely going to happen for me but if it does great if it doesn't I won't feel guilty anymore either. Just be proud of yourself for everything you've gone through and know everything you've done is the right thing for you and baby! Congratulations on your beautiful baby girl!!

Salam sis. I'm really sorry for your struggles in really hope that you are getting help around the house. I went thru a similar thing a few months ago so I totally know what you mean. I think due to c section milk comes in really late. I also had to bottle feed even tho I wanted to breastfeed . I know it doesnt matter as long as your child is getting fed that's the most important thing. But I really wanted to breastfeed regardless so I just kept putting her on. And inknow that's long and difficult especially after c section but if you really want to then try it alongside the bottle. Your milk will come in iA. And then they go off the bottle sometimes and only want the breast. But totally up to you. You have to want to do it becusse I know mentally it's not easy. So the point of my message is that if you want to breastfeed keep putting her on even now. I think mine took like 3 weeks or 4 xxx Allah is with you cc
