Very very good, all that was said! I’m 65 so this is all so relevant for me. I have 4 children, and one son (34) committed suicide almost 2 years ago. 8 months later my dad died. The impact of losing a child is literally indescribable. My dad had lived a good, full life. I grieve him, but grieving child is very different, and it’s a reality I live with every single day. One book which helped me more than any other was “It’s OK that you’re not OK”. I can’t praise it enough. The author Megan Levine is a therapist and experienced a sudden loss herself, so she knows. Please consider a podcast with her. Those of us who hurt like this need a voice. We’re not OK.

Women NOT supporting women - I raised my daughters to never tear other women down. I also told them that when someone makes fun of you, tears you down, tries to embarrass you ,etc. they are really putting their insecurities on display for the world to see. They feel the need to tear other down so they look better but they aren't really looking better. I explained to my girls (twins by the way) they do not need to impress anyone. God made them exactly who they are and who they are inside and out is beautiful. The only person they need to impress is themselves. Women tearing others down - It frankly is very sad that these women are so insecure. Today, my girls are 37 years old - 1 is a mother of 3, 1 is a mother of 4. They homeschool their children and teach their kids to care about others. They are amazing and so much smarter than I ever was. Isn't that the goal of every parent - have your child make better decisions than you, be smarter than you, treat others better than you did? It should be.

Well said! What a wonderful mother you are. Thank goodness for Dominique! She's exactly what KZbin needs right now, such a positive and encouraging woman. She exudes self confidence! Most people have outgrown the over spending, superficial commercials that are disguised as, "influencers"! I'm still appalled at Lisalisad1's video titled, " how not to be frumpy". She decided to insult a complete stranger on an elevator all in the name of KZbin content. Talk about a shallow individual!

Like another Susan on here, I found my soulmate when I was 57., after 2 failed marriages. That was wonderful! At 71, I am not thrilled with the age, simply because I know the clock is getting shorter for the amount of time we will be together. I do feel a few more physical challenges, as I am used to going full bore ahead all the time, and the body does start to slow down. However, I am still on the right side of the grave! LOL!

Omgoodness Dominique, I totally relate to your “ burying things in the name of peace” I have been doing that for 50 years and I too came to the realization that enough was enough and I needed to stop, speak up, stand my ground and not let people in my life hurt me or take me for granted☺️.. I have lived my life by the Golden Rule “ do unto others as you would have others do unto you” and while people/family have not usually reciprocated, I will continue to do so, but I will no longer allow them to treat me in such a manner that is not conducive to the life of positivity, kindness , empathy, compassion and truthfulness ( I do not tolerate liars 🤨) that I embrace😊.. Life is good and every birthday is a blessing🥰

Welcome to the 56 club Dominique. And what similar paths we have taken. I took early retirement after 31 years so that I could pursue my calling, which was to pursue my consulting and coaching business full time. I totally get the not wanting to have a birthday party about yourself. I was thrown a surprise party when I turned 50 and it felt like I was attending my own funeral. People were there from my 50 years of life which was so fun to see them but still I felt awkward at being the focus.

Your mom is the same age as mine. You are one year younger than me. I agree with you that every birthday is just like the year before. The only years that were challenging for me was the pressure of still being single. I got married in my 40s, and every year before that, I could feel the clock ticking. Once I met the right person that God had planned for me, I didn’t feel any more pressure. I didn’t feel the pressure of being a mom, although in my younger years, I thought I would have five children. I don’t have any children but still, I feel blessed beyond measure. I’m also an ambivert and don’t like being the center of attention but can turn it on when needed to do something in front of others.

Been there and have experienced very similar life challenges. Found the love of my life and life took a turn for the best! Recently I found that my best friend for over 20 years was putting a huge damper on my happiness and I painfully ended the friendship as she was always a “glass half empty” kind of attitude and highly critical of others. It was so hard and I miss her for her friendship, however I do not miss the negativity. Life is too short to not to live it with positivity. Be well and thank you for sharing your life challenges and strength.

Dominique thank you for your statement “ it’s ok to walkway from negative people who cross the line, doesn’t respect boundaries. I had to do that, I lost friends, family it was hard, and shocking just being shut out by others. But I’ve settled nicely into peaceful solitude.

Happy Birthday 🎉 Dominque! You are truly a special woman! I think every woman needs to dig deep inside of them and ask what makes ME happy, smile, have joy in my life. These things don’t have to be expensive or take up alot of time. We as women forget to have fun as we grow up and all our creativity is lost, we lose ourselves trying to please others. The best gift we can give ourselves is time… time to be our authentic selves without apology. To take the time to raise ourselves up, cheer ourselves on and live our best lives. God Bless
