This interview was supposed to be published in Armageddon Fanzine, but back in the years I was not available to decipher what Kevin was saying :)

1:24 - "Most of the new [Loveless] lyrics aren't even about sex - the new ones... They're about situations... you know? They're about everything." Lol thanks for the help Kevin. Trying to figure out what half the songs on Loveless are actually about is difficult enough

Butcher has confessed in an interview that the lyrics are "plain nonsense": totallydublin.ie/music/music-features/butchers-block/2/ Indeed, they resist, if not defy, rational, logical analysis in many ways.

roguenation Didn't Kevin write basically all of Loveless though? I think that's accurate when considering an entire song. A given verse (depends on the song definitely) may be actually about a single idea or theme though

RazzleDazzle Shields came up with the bulk of the music, however, Butcher contributed a fair amount of the lyrical content. Methinks that the band looked upon the singer as merely another instrument. Accordingly, the actual lyrics were much less consequential than the timbre of the voice which was given a subordinate role in the mix.
