Hey John. Was awesome to bump into you out at Spec with Pete the other day, I can also vouch for the work Pete does, the guys a wizard ! Pretty bloody cool that your about to travel Aus at the same time as me. Its gunna be awesome, fishing, time with the kids & fishing with the kids hahaha. I head off in April, mate it would be absolutely amazing to catch up with you on the road and go on some fishing adventures up in FNQ. Funny enough I will be in a quintrex traveler 3.7 as well. I will send you a Facey friend request, if you wanted to have a chat about anything travelling Aus related, I've been planning for 2 years now so I'm well researched.

Just renovated my tinnie with 3mm al sheet deck (5083 grade) and 5mm EVA z-tread over top. Doesn’t get wet/stinky like carpet, easy to wash down, nothing to rot. I reckon boat wraps are a waste of money, especially if your in creeks getting scratched up. Great vids, keep em coming 👍

Sounds like a fantastic adventure coming up. Wrap wise, seems a no brainer to have new one, featuring a graphic of a big jack hitting a lure, and your own branding - not the boat maker. Wondering if you can somehow have a chilly bin (I'm from NZ!) or esky in your language installed in that central space behind the live well, with seating on top for the kids. With the family on board in the tropics you'll need lots of chiller space for drinks, food etc. And installed partly below the deck level it won't be too top heavy or intrusive above the deck line, and with seating on top it kills two birds. Also some fitted Railblazer drink holders or other small spaces for kids sunscreen etc. in that middle well. Can't wait to see the end result.
@mylurebox3 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot Thor ;) I’ll definitely have to get my chilly bin in there somewhere now you’ve reminded me. Gotta have cold drinks up there. Cheers mate. Always appreciate your input :)

great video JC. Just a word of caution mate, I’d be very nervous about putting a 3.9 on waters up this way. 4.5m is generally considered the minimum when crocs are a possibility, and there was a bloke taken when a croc capsized a small tinnie at Hinchinbrook just recently. Hate to be a wet blanket mate, but kids, small boats with low freeboard and crocs aren’t a great mix.

Hey John. Just went through the battery stuff myself. I know it’s expensive but you need to convert to lithium. FPV Power Australia would help you out I’m sure. You can now buy single 24v battery which you would use to replace the two big 12v batteries you have. Then buy a smaller lithium just for your sounder and other electronics. You’ll get an vastly clearer picture on your sounder because you’ll have nice clean power. Not to mention you’d probably save 50+ kilos switching to lithium from lead/AGM. Furthermore, charging a lithium from empty to full take half the time as AGM which might be good for your trip. Happy to help if you have mote questions.

Bought back old memories again John !! I worked for quinny at the old factory and was there when we did the transition to the new factory at Coomera. I was super excited when we started experimenting with the ally core floors. If you still know someone at Telwater, can you get the numbers from your floor and ask them to look at who did the fitout ?? There are different stages to the build but you should be able to find the info. No need for full names but if you could find that, see if my name comes up.... it looks very familiar but may be a little after my time.

24 volt minkota seems overkill for a 3.7m tinny. A 55lb 12 volt leccy should be more than adequate. Otherwise, nice practical setup for lure fishing 👍

Thanks Peter. It’s great to fish out of. The 80lb has been ideal for me but I agree re. A 55lb. It makes a difference Punching pontoons for Jacks and fishing the faster creeks up north but for the vast majority of fishing, I don’t like to use anything above speed 3 to be quiet anyway… 👌

Weapon tinny mate! How fast does it get up to? And as for the interference on your sounder, the only way to fix it is to have a separate battery for the sounder and a seperate battery for the trolling motor.
