the reason karens get away with acting out so much is usually because everyone else is just too polite. They think they have cracked the system by just not caring about causing a scene. The only way to beat them is to not care even more. Give an old person a reason to complain and they will.

I've looked at a Karen and told her to get f*cked before lol. I was at work one day on my day off and this Karen was at the customer service area trying to get either a discount on an item she said was damaged but wasn't or get a smaller item free due to the damage she claimed was on the other item. I looked at her and told her there is nothing wrong with the item she claimed had damage on it. She then looked like she was gonna go off on the manager at the counter. I called her out on being a Karen to which she got pissed off at me for doing so so I told her to get f*cked. She looked at me in shock like no one had ever talked to her like that before but did pay regular price for EVERYTHING. She ended up telling the manager's boss lies about the manager but I back the manager up and told her manager what really happened. I didn't get into trouble since I was not working as was there as a customer.

Story 1: This is a great example as to why you NEVER work unpaid hours or overtime. You do it once, and they will ALWAYS expect it of you. With the way the captain is here, im honestly surprised that the OP went back after his month off and im also surprised that there hasn't been a mutiny. I think that that could be a matter of time. Story 2: Okay, question, who owns the house here? The OP and/or bf or the bf's mother here? If its the mother, id want to move and soon, and if not, change the locks... like yesterday. Story 3: A big reason why i hate working at bars/clubs, you always get these crazy condescending idiots all the time. I'm really surprised the OP didnt slap him after the "go call your bf" line. Good thing he got thrown out by security.... hopefully got roughed up a bit too. Story 4: Don't mess with old country women. They are the nicest people out there, but also take no crap from aynbody. I love that the grandma shut that Karen up, though a bit surprised that she didn't say "I am not your Auntie" or something along those lines.

Story 2 he talking about the mom need to some boundary but it's her house, it's her furniture, she pays for it so she pretty-much owns the entire house so she can do what she wants to it because they are like guest living in her house but one thing i'm agreeing on with op is that the mom should give a notice of when she is doing something in the like a repair something or something like that.

if you have a boss, you do as writen on contract. if you have a leader, you will do anything needed for the team to be happy. that's what bossy people don't understand. good workers can choose between "rules as writen (in the contract. you do that and nothing more)" or "rules as intended (you do anything needed)" your power doesn't come from being the boss, it comes from being respected by those under your command. if you show leadership, everything will go as good as it can. if you are a jerk, be prepared for karma's visit. it will happen. sooner or later.

At the last one we German takes the Karen thankfully because if she goes one time on the German cash register she would be dying from the fast speed if the cashier has a little off day and even if not if it's a little busy especially in some stores like "kaufland" it can be unhumilus fast especially for Americans. I had a boss that had me work late and when my check came in it was short my over time. When I asked about it my boss said I did that for free. Me “ no I didn’t and I better get paid since I not only long my time in the pad y’all give me but also in my notebook and what was done and where and I log who called me for it.” Boss ,” well what are you going to do about it? Your just a young dumb kid with no money.” Me,” ok you think that (and I named dropped a well respected lawyer ) and I’ll go talk to her , matter of fact on my way to my next assignment I’ll be on the phone with her.” Boss ,” you couldn’t afford her .” Me ,” that’s my aunt and she won’t charge me like anyone else and when she decides to go forward with the case she will get paid after the court decides.” Well I talked to her showed her what was done and said and she took the case , 2 weeks went by and they fire me and I still haven’t gotten paid. They refused to pay me for the 2 weeks I did work to that was added and we went to court and they then realize they messed up

story 2, sounds like the mother is the landlord. even if she's the landlord she has to update you and the boyfriend when ever she updates anything. No she can not tear down your shit and put her own in, she doesn't live there. your boyfriend might be uncomfortable but he should dedicate one room to just you, and let you decorate anyway you please. you need your own safe space in the house. Talk to the boyfriend change the locks or put locks on your dedicated room. your boyfriend sounds like he hates confrontation with his mother, which is why your responsible for it, and cause you make friction the mother has it out for you, cause he lets her lawn mowing mom behavior slide. just a thought but im guessing his mom is why he was single for so long.

I can’t sympathize with the second story. If the bf’s mom is bankrolling the house and your biggest complaint is she drops by unannounced sometimes and moves decorations around, and you never know when the help you don’t pay for might be around, that’s not a complaint worthy of telling the internet about.
