Fate of Mai: Like the story said, she tries to reconcile with Yuzuru but of course he refused. He confess to his coworker and started dating while enjoying the vacation trip. However, she isn’t the type of person that admits failure. She started hunting for men but her behavior had lost her every partner she talked to. At work, she often slacks off and involves with Kato, and for that reason she got scolded by the boss and a pay cut. She then quit the company on her own because of the awkward atmosphere. The end.

Basically kato was a jealous and lying boss because he hated how the mc was doing a better job so he would lash out dump work his work and say he did it, make him do impossible task to make him fail on purpose and take mai from all to spite him. Dude is a boss be a leader strive to do better but seeing how his status as a boss or manager got to his head. He literally wanted to leave the mc behind by making him do his work take the credit for the hotel and probably mock him if he tried to call him from the hotel about where everyone went. Though some saw through his BS like the hotel manager the employees, natsukawa. Insane

Kato just screwing herself thinking he can ditch Machida and take all the credits for organizing the trip. He knew that he makes almost impossible request ($100 per head for 2 nights) yet never question how the heck Machida can get a deal like that since all he wanted to is to steal the credits. And, even without Machida being the heir and all, Kato's bluff is just full of holes and probably breaks if the others asking around for details.

Seems perhaps the Higher-Ups found out about Kato pulling the fast one on Yuzuru, and that, as much as the lies and attempted efforts to steal Yuzuru's work led to his demotion. Mai chose to jump ship, figuring on greener pastures...too bad she fell for the chief's deceit, too. She did, however, help support the lies of the chief...thereby destroying any trust the others might have had in her. Meanwhile, Natsukawa was there to support Yuzuru, not only with the trip, but with the poison pill workload chief loaded on him as the trip was getting started. If only chief wasn't so arrogant, but....he learned a hard lesson! Besides, Natsukawa is a much better fit than Mai for Yuzuru! Enjoy....😊

Okay, for once, I'm ignoring the afterstory-fates. What the hell was with the boss!? He provided no reason when asked what his problem was. And the thing is, this just keeps happening with antagonists in RomCom stories. Like... consciously holding off on doing your own tasks _just_ to push them onto someone who, by all accounts, has no reason to remain at the company where management is treating him like garbage... Like, just _assuming_ he'll take what you throw at him? Even in the event of him not being needed on the trip, he could just take it up with HR, or even the CEO! The _department_ is on a two-day trip, and two employees are complaining about the position-abusing senior in said department. He'd be lucky if he was _allowed_ to stay for the full 2 days, by that point! By all accounts, it'd make more sense to send him back home, not even letting the ink on the letter of resignation _dry_ before forcing him to fill it out.
