Seeing you and Tom interact is so cute :') This is my petition for more Tom on the channel, would love to hear more from you about the realities of reading multiple books every week and I'm sure Tom's perspective on that must be iconic. I know you aren't the vlogging type but (as someone who is also in the trenches of balancing work, family life, and having a boyfriend with a love of reading) I'd love to see how you genuinely make it all happen. Anyways thank you for another fab video :) I have ADHD and watching your content while I do the hard things me makes my days so so much more manageable

I read Pachinko a few months ago and I still cannot stop thinking about it. Definitely an incredible book and the writing was gorgeous. I know exactly what part you’re talking about when you say it made you stop and cry, the same happened for me. The way she drops those moments is earth shattering.

I find it so interesting that some people just recommend their favorite books and some people recommend things that maybe they didn’t enjoy (or wouldn’t enjoy), but they think you will. I think I’m more the second type of person, but maybe that’s connected to the fact that I consume a lot of content about books, so I have lots of books I could recommend even if I haven’t read them 😅

It's so interesting how different people absorb books. I HATED the writing of pachinko and felt it removed the humanity from the characters. Also cannot deal with switching perspectives every paragraph. The characters didn't seem to care what was happening to them so I didn't either

I've loved Skulduggery Pleasant since I was a young girl and have never met anyone who has read the books, I've still only read 4 books and I reread the first two last year, loved them just as much, imo the first book doesn't feel like set-up at all, it's just not trying to be more than it is - a fun action-adventure middle grade ❤ it's kinda giving shounen anime in book form

I would highly recommend The Covenant of Water since you loved Pachinko. It's also a multi-generation saga with stunnning writing. I liked Pachinko more but The Covenant of Water was still one of my favorite books that I read last year. Side note, I do not really recommend Pachinko the Apple TV series. It wasn't bad, but the timeline is chopped up so I think it takes away from the connection you feel for the characters and the emotional impact was severely lacking. One of my favorite sections of the book was during WWII but in the show they do a complete offshoot episode that I just didn't love distracting from the rest of it.

We stan a historical fiction loving King! I also am not super into fantasy, I very much prefer scifi first, then historical fiction 2nd, then literary fiction 3rd. (I think you and tom might like the pelinor series though, despite being fantasy its YA/NA fantasy and its got world building but it isn't capital F fantasy if that makes sense)

I'd like to recommend audio books of Listen for the Lie by Amy Tintera - loved it so much - 5 stars and The God of the Woods by Liz Moore. I gave it 5 stars too. And I'm in the middle of audiobook Wedding People by Alison Espach and I am LOVING it.
