My Brazilian Neighborhood (Walking Tour) Pt.1

This walk starts in Florianopolis neighborhood of Praia Dos Ingleses-- Ingleses Norte on a side street off of the main road Rua Gaivotas and continues until the end of the road where you have beach access by way of a beautiful deck. You can also find two trails that go around or through Morro Feiticeiras which is a fun 2.5km hike that leads to another neighborhood called Praia Brava. There isn't much in terms of food and entertainment in this area, and in this walk you will really only see apartment complexes save for the lone convenient store. I will do another walking tour to show the other side where there is a lot more in the way of food, shops, entertainment, etc.

Hey man, I lived for about 7 years in Sydney, Australia, but I'm back now to SC and I'm glad to see foreigners enjoying our region! I don't know if you're aware of it, but we have some very nice places around floripa. I would suggest you to visit Praia do Rosa, Garopaba, Bombinhas, Itapema, Balneario Camboriu and Governador Celso Ramos if you don't have yet. I live in São José, but sometimes I'm with my gf in Jurere Internacional, her parents live there, so anything, hit me up, we could hang out or something someday...

Thanks for the tour. I like that side of Ingleses. All its missing is some stores, I hope they can add some maybe in that open field in the future :)

That would be great. If they utilized that open field for restaurants, shops, etc. it would change a lot for the neighborhood

Do all those buildings have elevators? We are looking to buy a penthouse we found in Canasvieiras but no elevator. Is that common?

That is a great question. My apt. does and I know most of them do but I don't know about the older ones. I was in one the other day with 4 floors and no elevator but was pretty old. I know the newer ones all have them. There is a brand new one that just finished here in Ingleses Norte that is beautiful and I will show it on the next walk

How is safety in Florianópolis? Is that comparatively safer compared to other cities in Brazil?

I just want to compare and determine if for a foreigner new to Brazil, Flroianapolis is better to live than other areas?

I think it's one of if not the safest city in Brazil. You can walk around at night pretty much anywhere without a care. Way safer than Rio and a lot of the other major cities in Brazil. You can live pretty worry free (safety wise) in Floripa.
