My broken dell H625CDW 062-380 error. Broken after 18 months with scanner error. Will try opening

Do you have the H625CDW 062-380 error?
This is the worst dell printer you can ever own. It might be a rebadged xerox printer: Xerox Workcentre 6515
I'm sure you've ran across multiple youtube videos.
Sadly, this video is just another video that shows how useless this printer can become as the scanner light test eventually fails.
When it boots up, it's supposed to shine a bright light to make sure the scanner works fine.
But it fails to shine that bright light at start up and shoots an error 062-380.
What I've tried doing:
1) unplugging and replugging after a day
2) tried restarting this sucker a million times (more like 10-15 times in a day... won't even boot once)
3) cleaned the surface of the scanner.
4) gave up and got a soda.
What I would like to try:
a) open the scanner and reconnect everything inside the scanner assembly (especially the light portion).
Do you have a solution other then buying a replacement scanner part (which isn't easy to find and if you do find it .. it's super expensive?)
This was my dad's printer. I ended up replacing it with a brother color laser printer. Why am I so caught up with this printer? Well... I bought a 2nd pack of toner cartridges that haven't been used... just wasted myself $50.
I will give this a week or 2 to try to fix, but this thing is both huge and heavy.. so it needs to go to the recycler soon if I can't fix. Oh yea,.. this is RIDICULOUS that there's no bypass for a faulty scanner. Dell/Xerox.. you've lost me as a customer.

I have the same problem since 2018, i contacted dell support and they suggested me to buy service contract which was more than price of the printer. I also filed a complain with bbb , but since I bought it initially from 3rd party, I didn't get a penny back. The damn thing is so heavy, it has been sitting in my office ever since and waiting to find motivation to lift and dump it into trash. And you are right there are plenty of people that have been having same issue.

Same issue here. Dell said that the printer no longer under warrantry. Ir would be cheaper to buy a new printer than to fix out of pocket. On mine the fax error come up and I cant print from the computer. Its terrible because the last thing i want to do is fax anything but that error is making my expensive printer obsolete.

I have the H825CDW version ... it looks exactly the same... I'm having the same issue and I have found a solution that works for me. I'm throwing it out the window and buying a completely different brand. Thank you for confirming though that I'm not completely crazy and this printer is worthless.

My model.. servicing it requires removing all of the panels.. left, right and back panels.. before I can finally get to scanner??? This china made xerox printer.. is like the worst of the worst. Had I read the reviews. I wouldn't have wasted my money on this. Sigh. Good luck on your printer search!

Same problem! Funny thing is I haven't used the scanner in months and after I did use it, everything seemed fine. Until that magical day I turned it back on to print something. Then I got the error. I will never buy a Dell product again!

Sorry to hear. This dell printer is a rebadged xerox printer. Xerox does not deserve your business either.

Had the same thing happen to mine. Cannot find parts for it since they seem to be out of stock. I have mine in the garage collecting dust till I find the part. It worked great for a while but never a Dell/Xerox product again.

can you still force the unit to print when connected to a computer? I have found a report of another dell printer having the same error but is able to scan when connected to a computer.

I have the same problem but I own 3 of these. purchased one for the office and one for the home. both are showing this error. One of the printer still works but for how long??

Hey Jim... mine lasted literally until the 1 year mark. Sorry to hear. Hopefully yours can last longer.. the 3rd one. In hindsight.. I should have bought a printer that was laser only instead of an all in one. How do you build that won't let you print.. even if the printer works!?

I have the Dell S2825cdn (similar to this) and mine broke on it's own without even using the scanner. My Print Volume (total print) is only 247 pages. Why would you not have an option to continue without scanner, its primary function is printing which is working fine!!

It's super ridulous. NEVER EVER buying a printer from dell NOR xerox. On a side note.. I never was able to disassemble the printer. It required removing panels on all sides... I'd already worked on it for an hour and gave up (I have 4 kids screaming in the background). 1. Why build a printer that fails if the scanner fails? The developer of this should be fired. 2. Why build a printer that's not easily serviceable? Really.. to get to the scanner, I have to remove all panels?

it is suggested that the scanner may not be in an unlocked position. is there such switch on the scanner?

Same problem. Dell said they got out of the printer business, and no longer offer any support on their printers. Don't buy Dell.

It's both Dell.. and Xerox. This is just a chinese xerox machine. I was amazed at how difficult it is to disassemble. I was planning to take it apart and put it back together.. but I gave up (not worth it to fill my living room worth of parts for the day) Hope you find an alternative to this printer.

I have the same problem but it's the scanner in the adf.. won't scan two sided. Throws an error just like that but a different number when you try to adf scan two sided. Single sided works fine.

This is the lemon of all printers. Hopefully you can fix it with something simple... When you get my problem.. it seems to be a scanner hardware issue that requires replacement of part. I really don't see how anyone can build a printer this bad.. that barely lasts a year.. or printing light printing. The reason why I got a printer like this because my parents never print much anyways. Really annoys me that this was made by xerox.

@@aleksdude It's actually been a greet printer until now. Got it over 5 years ago, paid 300 new from dell. replaced the toner one time. Fortunately I'm still able to use it with manual duplex scanning on the flatbed. Everything else still works fine. Can't dispose of it for not being able to duplex scan. Did find a replacement ADF but decided 200 is to much to spend on a 5 year old printer.. lol Been looking at the latest and greatest eco tank printers.. but I don't know yet. Sure can't find the equivalent to this printer for under 600 now.

I have the same problem of failing to do ADF first, about 3 months ago. So I think just let it be since I can use my scanner to scan and use H825CDW as printer. Then last week, the printer fail to work at all due to sudden 062-380 error happens at startup. According to my experience, I suggest you print at much as you can. Most probably you will meet the same 062-380 error later.

Trying to disassemble it was a pain... I had spent about an hour but it was too stressful for me with 4 kids running and yelling in the back. Also,.. its a big printer and too big to take apart and leave parts lying around. Sigh.. maybe it is easy to get to the CIS part.. but I gave up and recycled the printer. Good luck to everyone!

Same issue here. I decided to buy a "good" printer for home, thinking it was a solid investment for irregular printing. Got maybe 100-150 prints out of it...total. Now I have this paperweight and extra toner. If I could get the lamp assembly, I'd be willing to crack it open and swap the part. Unfortunately, you have to buy the entire scanner unit for 200 bucks to TRY to swap out the part, and there don't seem to be good instructions on how to do that. Ugh...trying to update the firmware in the split second before the error appears. Same thing as yours...scanner lamp doesn't turn on...

Yep. I read the service manual. It's pretty bad. Requires you to remove left and right panels just to get to the scanner. Are you kidding me??? Both xerox and dell have lost me as a printer customer.

WAIT I WAS GONNA TELL YOU NOT TO BUY A BROTHER COLOR LASER PRINTER MFP EITHER Because That Could Be A Rebadged Some Other Manufacturer's Printer Or Something Which Means You Could Have The Same Problem!
