Back when I was in culinary school, we practiced pan flipping, prior to doing the real thing with an egg, using dried beans. So you can use beans or rice or birdseed, you could practice in the back yard and won't have to clean up whatever you drop, to practice the wok flipping motion.

Lol I wanna say thank you for helping end my happy planner addiction and being mad at myself because I couldn’t keep up with it. Now, I use a bullet journal with a monthly layout and put my appts in the month and then if I want to add extra stuff, cool, if not, I at least know my schedule. And that was a less than $20 investment in a good journal.

Re: housekeeper. Just like you said about a farmer's market... First, you gotta find one. Then you gotta try one out a few times before you know if it's your favorite. With your being in a new area, you aren't going to be able to hire someone you trust completely right out of the gate. Trust builds slowly. Being bonded adds some trust, but usually comes with a cost. I keep my non-replaceables in a place where she doesn't clean, my office... which I clean myself. 💖🌞🌵😷

I want to get back into my writing and do more reading for fun. I'm like you, Cindy--I don't like tracking how many books I've read. It makes reading feel like a chore to me. I remember all the fun I had reading when I was growing up, and I've come to realize that part of the reason it was so much fun was because I just read whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. Same goes for my writing. I want to get back into the habit of writing every day, not because I "have to," but because I WANT to. I've been feeling this painful disconnect between me and my writing, and I'm desperate to reconnect because writing is one of the things that has saved my sanity over the years. Love the way you set up your 22 for 2022! I haven't gotten all of mine nailed down yet, but I'm getting there. Your spread is giving me ideas for my own. Thanks for the inspiration! 😊

Regarding the Scotch Eggs goal, you might find Binging with Babish's video 'I Lied about Scotch Eggs' an entertaining and/or informative watch. The whole episode hinges on his impression that this is a requirement when in fact it is more of an unusual twist and not standard at all XD If I remember correctly he did eventually get a soft boil. For 2022 Q1 fun goals I'm hoping to graduate from a marimo moss ball to a dirt-growing plant (I did well enough for a few years with cacti but I think I'd actually be better with something less durable that would welcome more routine care) and lots of reading - I've likewise got my eyes on NK Jemisin's work as well as a handful of leftovers from this year and some other recs from Plant Based Bride.

I visit Denver every few years (and live in Utah -- we share weather systems) so here are my recommendations. Drink more water than you'll think you need to. It's a high-altitude desert and will drain you dry if you're not careful. Use cocoa butter for your hands when they get sandpapery. Visit the Museum of Natural History. Go to the Denver Arts Festival over Memorial Day weekend. Eat at the Route 66 Cafe on Colfax -- they've got a burger named after Dean Moriarty. Eat at City O'City. Take a walk in Cheesman Park and you might see a ghost. Shop for records at Twist and Shout, and for books at the Tattered Cover. It's a great city! I hope you enjoy yourselves there.

What kind of wok do you have? I cook because I have to but it does not bring me joy. It's a necessity with 3 sons, so as usual one of my goals is to make cooking easier so i at least grumble and whine about it less. Problem is too that my chronic illness is a joint condition so by dinner time my energy and joints are zapped. I always set a reading goal so my fun goal this year is to read everyday. at least 1 page. My bookshelves are crammed of books I bought at library sales so there's some guilt in the fact that I haven't read them. So my goal is to read from my shelves so that I can declutter the ones I don't want to keep and that the ones left are my favorites and bring me joy.

Here's an idea for your wok goal- see if there's an Asian cookery class so that you can be guided on how to do the movements appropriately, and if you make a mess you probably won't be the only one. Dr. Pepper is not a monkey on my back, it's a virus that I can't get rid of. I did Lent and gave up all sodas, and it was difficult, but I did it. Though Easter hit and no chocolate bunnies for me- I downed a six-pack. So many of the things that are on your bucket list are now on my bucket list. Maybe I can fit it 44 in 22? Not likely.

I was a Dr Pepper addict for YEARS. I gave it up cold turkey when I was in the hospital for 3 months. I was shocked and sad when my new nephro told me Dr Pepper was pretty much the worst of the sodas for my kidneys. That was spring 2016 and I haven't tasted Dr Pepper since then. I haven't had a soda darker than ginger ale since then actually. Mostly it's teas, but if I am drinking a soda it's a Sierra Mist/Sprite, and I've recently discovered they go well mixed about 1/2 and 1/2 with pink lemonade.

A big monkey I had was Pepsi. Actually, Pepsi and Doctor Pepper each has three monkeys. Caffeine, the bubbles and sugar. Pick one. I choose to quit caffeinated soda first because I don't do artificial sweeteners. (I still have a cuppa coffee now and again, but no caffeine in soda). So, I was drinking lemon/lime or Ginger ale. After a month or so, I switched to water, but I really missed the bubbles, so I switched to club soda to eliminate the sugar. I finally bought a Soda Stream and now make my own soda water when I get a craving... sometimes I add frozen juice concentrate (the grape concentrate I found has no added sugar/100% fruit juice). And that's how I conquered my monkeys. 💖🌞🌵😷

@@kaoticanjel83, yum! They have so many flavors! But recovering from from a chronic disease, I'm trying to stay away from added sugars and preservatives. That's why the frozen juice concentrate works for me. I've found grape, apple and orange juice concentrates that are 100% juice (no added sugar, nor preservatives). Now if I could find juice with no added sweeteners that was keto, I would be adding it to my beverages 24/7. But for now, my drink is purified water.
