I'm only seeing this now after my budgie Snowys death. I had her for about 7 years while my mother was going through her fight against cancer, unfortunately December 23rd a little after midnight my mother passed. Snowy unfortunately passed on the day after her funeral but I'm happy that my mum has a friend up there with her. I love you Mum and Snowy and rest in peace. edit: thank you for everyone for the lovely replies, I'm doing lots better than i was a year ago but thank you all, everyone who's reading this please have a lovely day.

you are making me cry. I just lost my budgie violetta yesterday. she had respiratory problem with her lungs. She died in front of me. Always showing she was strong last couple of weeks, when i knew inside, something was wrong. Her chest was getting swollen on one side. I knew her end was near, but i could never face the day when that would be. She was with me 5 years. Well spent with me. She made me happy all the way. I miss her so much. I cry every day now.

It’s so sad when they go. Breaks your heart, and breaks your heart even more when you see their cage mate try to wake them up and try to nudge them back again. As an animal lover and an owner to pet rats, I have seen this and dealt with such hardships. Don’t need a scientist to tell you that animals have feelings and care, because they do. Edit: She was very lucky to have you, and I can tell you gave her a brilliant life! You did all you could for her, and she knows that. ❤️

I’m sorry and I lost all my hermitcrabs I had 5 all died day by day I cry for a long time up to my dad told me to not cry but I couldn’t resist I’m so sorry I have the same experience as you 2 and it was a year ago and my favorite of them all was spiral he was the frist one to die and I still have there cage and pics for them and what’s worse was that spiral live with me for a year and he died molting I’m sorry for your lost 😢☹️

Jason Perez Im so sorry to hear this. I had 4 birds, 2 died recently both a days apart. I took the other two to the vet immediately and they found lots of bacteria, a virus of some kind in their droppings, and put them on antibiotics right away. So far they are doing good and I'm glad they're still with me. I Can not imagine losing all of them at such a short period and I feel really bad for you. I recently got a tattoo to in honour of them. Will be posting in a couple of days.

I'm so sorry for you :( Kira was a beautiful bird. My own budgie named Pooky died on Dec 18, 2016 at the age of 13 1/2. My brother and I got her (along with another female named Phil) for my mother when my father died in 2003, so she could have some company. Five years ago we had to put my mother in a residence because she had Alzheimer's, so I took both of them to live with me. Phil died in 2003, at the age of 10. Pooky, although sad to have lost her friend was strong and continued. Although Pooky was a tough bird, the last couple of years saw many visits to the vet for injections related to her hormones. On January 2016 my mother died, and as if Pooky was somehow connected to her, her hormonal conditions started getting worse. By May of 2016 she could no longer fly, but was still happy and behaving normally. I knew however that this signalled her last chapter. By mid December she no longer wanted to leave her cage. I was hoping I would get one last Christmas with her, but on Dec 17, she took a turn for the worst and was just lying on her tummy shivering. I put her on top of her cage, and tried staying up with her the whole night setting my alarm to wake me up every hour. At 5:45 am (my usual time to get up and feed her) on the 18th, when my alarm woke me, I found she had made her way down to the bottom of the cage, still lying on her tummy with her wings spread. I picked her up, put her back on top of the cage, and then she died. It's like she waited for me. I had her cremated and put in an urn where she's now next to a picture of my parents, like a member of the family. I miss her so much. The house feels empty without her. It's amazing how such a tiny life form can attach itself to us. Patience my friend. Although their last days will leave a scar in our soul, the pain will pass, and more importantly their memory will stay with us for the rest of our lives.

Thanks for the reply. It was something I needed to get out of my system. When I saw your tragic video, I felt it was the right time to do so. I will get another one or two in the summer. For now, I find comfort and relaxation with the outdoor bird feeder I have, as well as watching the two mated eagles on the live 24/7 webcam at www.dceaglecam.org You have inspired me to upload a short video of my own two dearly departed budgies playing on the kitchen counter.
