Rescue of a Scared Homeless Dog with a Broken Heart

Rescue of scared homeless dog, heartbroken and sad, living on the cold streets. This sweet old dog was found roaming near a railroad station. It was too risky to attempt a rescue there, we were worried that he could run and get hit by a passing train, so we followed him, trying to redirect him towards a safer place. It was quite a marathon as he ran away each time we approached him. But he eventually understood we are only trying to help him, or maybe the smell of the yummy treats finally reached his nose. He was limping and we also noticed a scar near his left eye so we took him straight to the veterinary clinic. When we scanned him for a microchip we discovered that he had an owner! We hoped a happy dog-owner reunion would follow, but when we contacted the registered owner he told us he does not want the dog back and asked us to take him. Apparently, Bobi (this is the name given by his owner) ran away from home and traveled quite a long distance, being found approximately 10 miles away from his home. We’ll never know why he left home and why he wasn’t wanted anymore, but we do not want to judge anyone, we’re just thankful that we were able to save him.
Bobi is 9 years old, medium sized, approximately 18 kg (39 lbs), fully vaccinated, microchipped, neutered. His vision is completely lost in the left eye, an old scar located near the eye indicates that he had been injured there, possibly hit, so that’s how he lost his sight in that eye. But the good news is that vision in the right eye is not affected and he sees well with it.
He’s very gentle, loving and obedient and he is still playful and curious. It's like he's living now the puppyhood he missed.
Bobi is an old dog in his golden years and he needs a caring adoptive family to offer him a home, a FOREVER home this time, where he can spend his remaining years happy and loved. My family adopted Snuggles when he was 1. I keep having allergies for the longest time. My mom finally took me to a specialist to see what was wrong with me. I found out that I was allergic to my dog. My mom and the doctor told me I need to get rid of him but it was already too late, he was family now. He was embedded into my heart forever. So I actually suffered for like almost a decade, but then my brother took him in for a couple of years. He came back to me and lived out the rest of his years. He was 14 when he passed. They have been artificially and purposefully bred to be our domesticated companions over at least 15000 years (maybe even 30000). Having said that, humans are animals too so I’m not sure wether the word “humanize” can even be used in that context (or indeed any context). The fact is that tribes of humans can and do survive in the wild all over the planet which renders your comment kinda moot.

I could not agree more. I am also getting older and jaded by the inhumanity shown by humans towards animals and other humans that you can get a mindset that everyone is despicable. These video's give me some faith that not everyone is greedy, selfish and uncaring. When you take a Dog, you and the dog agree a unwritten contract to keep a bond of affection for life. Sometimes dogs run away repeatedly. We adopted a runaway Yellow Lab from our canyon neighborhood friend. We thought he was a bad pet owner and maybe he WAS . Then Mikey the Lab started doing the same thing he did from the previous owner. He would taken off from the ranch and end up many miles away , traversing valleys. Multiple times. He would dig underneath the yard fence, enticed our other dog into running away with him. Multiple times. We got fined, several threats from strangers calling us every name in the book. So we had to eventually surrender him to Animal Services. He eventually got re-adopted AGAIN by a poor unfortunate fool. Guess what??? We got a random call MONTHS later. We heard a panting sound, and a man on the other line asking is if we were the owners. Animal Services allowed Mikey to be adopted out with OUR tags on him!!! We felt bad for Mikey but couldn’t help but laugh nervously as the man said he was being CHASED down the highway by this dog! Mikey wherever you are you are a troublemaker! You had it ALL and threw it all away by being a runaway. My mama and the rest of the family adored him but he was just too freein spirit to be chained down... We heard a rumor he had scaled the wall the new owners had and escaped. 🤷🏻‍♀️

If, after contacting the dog's owner via the microchip info, the owner said he doesn't want him back, I'd be willing to be that the owner deliberately abandoned the poor dog. Shame on such an owner! If you don't want to judge him, fine, but I will.

What a sweetheart. I'll take him. (That's why my wife won't let me go to the shelter anymore.) The last one was an elderly beagle. She had chf and none wanted her. After I looked in her face I took her home. She died new years morning after being with us for 2 years. My heart aches daily still. My dogs treat me better than anyone, and I them.

I've got two huskies. One was too playful and energetic and the other ran away from an abusive home. They sleep in bed with me and my wife. Sasha and Vega are good boys and they are loving. When I had covid and I was on my back for a month, Sasha only left me for the bathroom. Other than that, he stayed right next to me, cuddling with me while I struggled to breathe and slept for most of the day every day. He is a good dog. That's why we have dogs. It's a mutal loving relationship. That's not something I'd give up. I can't imagine why this dog was given up.

In people that eat heavy animal based diets, the population of bacteria responsible for breaking down plant based matter might become very small or even extinct, so a plan will need to be devised to carefully introduce plant based foods to develop the ability to break it down.
