Like the bottle cap idea. I carry a rollerblade wheel bearing but think it would be easier on my hand if I put it inside the bottle cap. I could glue it in to make it one piece. Can't go wrong with a sylnylon tarp. Nice video

Greetings from the UK and a fellow child of the 60's , you have 1 years experience over me LOL Great simple and concise kit, didn't see a sleeping bag though so figure it's not necessary at the times that you go BCing. For anyone asking about that takedown saw, Paul Sellers does a make your own carpenters frame saw video, looks really like that takedown one when assembled and you can make the addition of a groove to house the blade simple enough.

Replace the beer bottle cap with the cap on your plastic water bottle, put a coin in there, use it as hand block, take the coin out and screw the cap back on the water bottle. You could even carry an extra plastic cap for this purpose. A plastic cap has no sharp edges that wears down your gear or hurt your hand. Also the beer cap gets way hotter than a plastic cap with a coin in there. You will find it more convenient probably and end up with a shiny coin.

Two saws an axe seems like a lot of wood processing tools not to mention the knives way more gear and weight than most people would carry even with the emergency gear for a simple day hike. But maybe it's just me.
@Woodswalker19655 жыл бұрын
Yes it's a lot of gear for sure, you're right. The small saw is more for crafting. A day in the woods for me definitely involves a fire and a meal and could last 10-12 hrs. In that way the gear for a day hike differs little from a overnight kit except for the sleep system. Some choose to carry less and sometimes I do but usually it's pretty close to this. Was that a small, medium, or large pack?
@Woodswalker19654 жыл бұрын
It's the medium size pack. At the time of purchase they called it the Savotta Jaeger but now I believe they call it the Jaakari Medium. I did a review here. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gYDQmKGcrqqso80 Thanks very much for watching👍

+atgoh93 Thanks man. Its a BHK or Battle Horse Knives Jump Jak. I love it. I plan on doing a bushcraft knives video soon and I will talk more about it. Thanks for checking in brother.👍

Well, I picked up a jump jak and it's an amazing little knife. This could be a stand alone bushcraft knife. Thanks for the info, I appreciate it.
@Woodswalker19657 жыл бұрын
atgoh93 Thats awesome! You are absolutely correct, combined with a saw or axe you could really do it all. Congrats brother!

Cheers Wade, concise kit . Has your kit changed from a year ago and are you carrying anything differently nowadays ? 👍
@Woodswalker19655 жыл бұрын
Morning Rick! I must say my kit has changed only slightly. The pack has changed. Not because I didnt like it but I like to try new things and trade gear with other folks. I carry a pretty basic kit as you probably do, perhaps it's time for a update video.Have a great day buddy!
@RickTOutdoorAdventure19695 жыл бұрын
@@Woodswalker1965 cheers Wade, yeh my kits probably developed a bit 👍. Think it's probably thinned down slightly but then again it all depends on my objective for that trip 🙂

Great comment of yours at 07:25 - "I carry this monster ferro rod. Why? I don't know, I just like it." That's my justification for pretty much everything.

What pack was that and will the tarp fit in that condor lens pouch?
@Woodswalker19656 жыл бұрын
The pack is the Savotta Jaeger, they may call it the Savotta medium pack now. Yes a small tarp will fit in the Condor lens pouch. Thanks for watching my friend.

What backpack is this? Or any recommendations of bags alike with molle
@Woodswalker19656 жыл бұрын
This particular bag is the Savotta Jaeger I highly recommend. Another brand of similar quality and size would be the Maxpedition Falcon. Both military grade. Thanks for watching!
@gxrebel17306 жыл бұрын
I would ditch the bucksaw and axe for a good folding saw, I recommend Silky Katanaboy 500 and a firearm.
