When you pour the diluted ink back into the container will that have an impact on the ink the next time you use it? Will it eventually become too diluted?

Nope, sumi ink can withstand a lot of dilution. But also it is really dry where I am so it's not that big of a deal. If you live in a humid area you might want to experiment.
