Cool setup! I found your video looking for an 18" setup for a SS 1LE. Still not sure what I will go with. I'm not throwing rocks- On your wheel stud, while the hammer and press tool on the car is a normal mechanic shop practice for everyday cars. Taking the hub off and pressing the studs is the best practice. While more time consuming it is better to not be shocking the wheel bearing by hammering.

Another added benefit of those longer ARP wheel studs is that they're made of much better material than the factory ones. They have a much higher tinsel strength and are way safer for use on a race track. Excellent video, as always. Keep it up.

Doris the wheels look great! The only thing I will say is check how far the suspension compresses and make sure the front and rear wheel openings do not come in contact with the tires, they will cut down the side wall. If it's too close Eastwood company makes a wheel well lip roller that attaches to the hub and you carefully roll the lip up and out of the way. There is probably directions on how to use it but one thing you should do is warm the area with a heat gun like paintless dent removers do other wise the paint will likely crack.

Hey, I can't answer that in regards to the Redeye because I still haven't started heavy mods on it yet. But it looks promising based on shops and people I've spoken to. In regards to the ZL1, modded and zero issues. It'll come down to preference really. Thank you, I'm so happy to hear that.

Awesome...Now that looks like a true race ready ZL-E. But you forgot to tells us what brake pads you replaced the old ones with. OE Brembos again Or a track pad? I went back to the OE Brembos on my CTS-V, better fade resistance and pedal feel. Still have the dusting issue but I solved that by ceramic coating my wheels now its a little easier to wash em off!

Sorry. I used OE brembo. I'll switch to track pads after I swap rotors. I know the pad size will differ, but there will be more options to choose from. Coating would help with the brake dust issue.. glad it worked out. I need to do the same.

Nice video, and I like the only fans page. A little hint to help you with custom wheels. Never do the final tightening on a custom wheel with an impact gun. Use a Torq Stik on the impact to tighten the lug nut to 20 ft lbs under spec, then tighten all the lug nuts with a quality torque wrench after the car is setting on the ground. Pay close attention to the wheel manufacturer specs. A lot of times they call for less lug nut torque than the factory does on OEM wheels.

Shaving weight on the unsprung mass, rotational weight and wheel momentum=more power to the ground and possibly decreased stopping distance. Do you have to recalibrate speedo for +5% difference? Are the fronts on the old tires wearing different on the insides? Or are you running a toe out for road courses or autox? Nice setup! Aesthetic mod, Craft Square side mirrors?

Yes.. the weight saving will improve much. I'm excited for it. No calibration as the diameter of the wheels are even between the front and back. So the speed will be true. With the stock wheels, the speedo was off by 1-2% from factory because of the stagger difference. The height of the rear was a bit taller than the front with oem set up. I'm running -3 camber up front and -2 out back. Not sure about toe as my focus is road course. This set up and power won't work well in auto-x.

If you haven't yet installed the longer studs on the rear, when you draw the new studs in, use the old lug nuts, or at least, use a fresh lug nut for each stud. This will save any of your new lug nuts from excessive wear before they're actually put into service. Also, put a dab of anti sieze/high pressure grease on the taper of the nuts you use for pulling in the studs. When done, give the studs a quick wipe-down if necessary to remove any lubricant. 😘

Just saying, I've never heard of any law, in any state or at the federal level, that make slicks illegal for the road. The issue is, the slicks _could_ blow out at any time on the road. It's more of a safety issue than a legal issue. That being said, no matter your taste in cars, or how you use them, its _always_ awesome seeing girls and women get into turning a wrench and making their cars whatever they want them to be!

I’m sure you are already aware, but just on case, with slick tires you need warmer blankets before racing. That slick grips nothing below the working temperature. Probably, you won’t be able to get those in the right temperature out of a racetrack.
